Due to buying the Talbot on here one of my cars has to go. There doesnt seem like much point having 2 cabrios so my Renault 19 1.8 16valve is up for sale. T+T until Nov 2010 (will need rear pads for next MOT and are supplied with car). Only 78000 miles. Full leather interior, Power steering, Elec windows all round, central locking etc etc. Bodywork is generally good. There are a few blisters here and there but not much. The car has a new matching Mohair roof costing £600. Electrics all work perfectly. Fuel pump sometimes is noisy, but comes and goes and has been like this for years. Engine pulls well (should do as has 137 bhp) Lancaster insurance cherished car policy cost me only £138 a year fully comp. £400 Car located in Eastbourne, any questions please ask

PM'd, cash is waiting for this one basically depending on a couple of points (basically don't mind having to maintain a car, but don\t need another project!).

Hi Richard, thanks for the Pm, unfortunately I cant deliver and certainly not half way up the country. As said from bob above the trains really are an easy way of picking cars up. In responce to the messages ive received the car drives well. The clutch although fairly heavy which is normal for these is perfect with a very low biting point. These suffered in the hands of boy racers from abuse. Mainly gearbox/headgasket woes due to a lack of servicing and revving beyond their 7000rpm redline. Mine hasnt had that happen to it. Ive known the last 3 owners and we have all treated her well. Underneath has never been welded, and I looked under it last month and its still very solid. Hope that answers everyones questions

Eh, I wasn't expecting delivery realistically, but you never know - it's more that I've bought cars blind from the other end of the country and found cars which are decidedly not what I came to collect, only to be stuck with buying the car anyway or buying an expensive train home.

Seems seriously cheap at £400 this. Cheapest on the Trader is more than double and has a knackered hood. If I could get it past SWMBO it'd be mine. Tell you what Richard, if you don't fancy it when you get there, perhaps bring it back anyway and drop it at my olds in Hartlebury. I'll have to buy it then!

Nah, there's loads at this price point on eBay, particularly if you check finished auctions - and there was a black one on here a couple of weeks ago. Why are 19 Cabrios so unloved...
I'm just up the road from Hartlebury, too.

Bitchin'. If we hadn't just got sorted with one, I'd be like a rash all over this.
£400 is stupid cheap. They are an excellent bit of kit, and as well as that, I know Jagman to be a very decent person and I wouldn't have any qualms about getting on a plane and knowing I'd find exactly what was advertised waiting for me. So for £52 on the train... c'mon already.

Thanks Will. Basically the car is now gone. I'm swapping it for the Samba Cabrio on here. I will have to say I'm going to miss it. I drove it today to work with the roof off and its amazing how many admiring looks a budget car like this gets with the roof off. As for the other Cabrios for the same price, I paid £750 for this earlier this year. That was a bargain. There are lots of R19 Cabrios on the bay (I looked at 5 before I bought this one) and there are a lot of dogs out there. These are great engines. They are tame upto 4.5k and then all hell brakes loose all the way upto 7k. Problem is youngsters get hold of them and thrash them without regular oil changes. Then the engines/gearboxes suffer. Luckily this one has been driven sensibly. For anyone considering one I would really recommend it. don't worry about rust on them, just check the clutch is low (it will be heavy, thats normal) and the gears are smooth. 4th into 5th can take a while to get used to, but that can be just adjustment.

I know about trains, I've already bought 2 cars this year from Essex, just wish cars like this would come up for sale up here more oftern, that's all. I'm getting sick of traveling to the other end of the country for cars
