Unlike the last thread about halfords this is purely about the clearance section, and any bargains you have had ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Yesterday after doing a plumbing quote we realised we were just around the corner from the Kingston Park branch of Halfords, so it would have been rude not to pop in wouldnt it ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) i came out with 2 sets of panda brake pad fitting kits (£1 each), a pack of 20A fuses (49p), 2 lots of lock scratch guards (50p each), but best of all was the 2 locking petrol caps that fit the panda (£1 each) ;D So what was your best clearance bargain?

In my last few visits to Halfords, I haven't seen the clearance bins. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) I always love a rummage through there! A couple of years back they had a clearance on K&N filters and picked up a few for a fiver each. I recently bought a replacement foam filter element for one of those Ripspeed mushroom filters for 99p. I've since cut it into a long strip and used it to replace the foam in my pancake filters. Still plenty left too. I found replacement internal mechanisms for my 1/2in and 3/8in drive Professional ratchets. I know I can just take 'em back and get them replaced but at a quid each it seemed daft not to buy them. I've bought other odd tools too, because they're often really cheap.

Have not been there for a while, but just before I built the caravan, I bought about 7 500ml tins of Hammerite paint at 50p, or £1 each, also similar kind of luck at B&Q buying enamel paints at 50p up to £1 each for up to 5litres, perfect for smearing onto places where the colour does not matter.

When the hose split on the daily Mondeo (not the one in my sig) my dad thought it would be a simple change although I had my doubts.
Despite him not bringing any tools I went off to Halfords in search of the cheapest tool set I could get (I needed something with a 7mm and 8mm socket attachment. Voila, there was the old Boxer set there in 3/8" guise for £10. That was a bit of a life saver (as was the pricey hose spring clip remover we got elsewhere at a bargainous price (from a shop that is well renowned for being rude and very expensive in Rugby). Before anyone says I could have used pliers, try working on a Duratec V6, space is limited to say the least!
Other bargains include bulbs but that's on Trade so I guess not quite clearance.

I used to work there, so it's cheating, but:
Full set of new Spax Adjustable dampers and springs for a 106 - £20 Full brand new Gmax springs and shocks, for a Zetec S but I put them on my mums Ka - £60
If you go in at the right time you could get real bargains on stuff like that (if it didn't fit any of the staffs cars) Sadly, they don't stock anything like that anymore.

The one in Eastbourne is really poor for sale bargains ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) We had the pipercross/K+N's being sold off a couple of years ago too. But they literally were just 3 or 4 pound off. No real bargains unfortunately. Either someone there is buying them and flogging them themselves, or they send them to a different branch to be reduced. Best bargain there are the half price proffesional toolkits. I Love their socket sets.

They've stopped randomly doing clearance stuff and now save it all up till after christmas. My best bargain was a set of Escort Cossie Morettes which I bought for 5 shiney pounds and sold for 481 even shinier pounds.
TBH if the staff are into cars there won't be much left. Me and my mate Carl go through the whole list of clearance items before we pick them out and put everything on one side that we want.

Matt I used to do the same - The area manager went mad at me for it, but the amount of curse word we did for minimum wage, then damn right I'm going to try and find a bargain or 4!

Indeed. Everything that could possibly be sold for a large profit I buy lol. It's the same with tips which we aren't supposed to accept. If somebody offers me a few quid because i've fixed a fuse/taken their radio out (which we can't charge for through the till now) i'm not gonna say no lol.

Forgot about another bargain. Got a set of Ripspeed wheels that had fallen of a customers car as my boss had given them the wrong spigot rings and they hadn't bolted them up square. £30 for a set of 15" alloys with brand new tyres (still had the bobbles on). Sold the tyres for £120 and the wheels for £40.

Anyone got those screwdrivers with Halford's oil? I have three sets! Yes yes! Good value even after paying £18 odd for the oil. I "should" have about 4 sets, but at any one time I'm lucky to find a single bloody screwdriver after lending them out to family from time to time.

As said when i was working there i used to buy loads of clearance stuff. Halfords 3 drawer professional tool chest.......£15 filters, and other bits (especially tools) for next to nothing. Got my GT Chucker original for £50 ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) 4 Pressure Washers for.....well for £5 each. (They were badly smoke damaged after our container got burnt, rather than going into the skip where the pikies would have had them i offer the manager a £5 each on a misc code ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) ) Veba DVD player and screen - £30 (was hidden in the audio cage well out of sight for a year or two ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) and just rolled down on the codes every few months)
