Gotta agree they are generally awesome. Handling is slightly diluted, maybe mine doesn't have the right set up or I'm too used to driving a 205. But the power delivery, noise and general usefulness makes up for it. Been using mine as daily for 2 years now. ![](http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m103/ishanoleemahomed/S535%20AFS/IMAG0022.jpg) Recently melted a piston due to a dodgy MAF sensor. Thinking of replacement is difficult...

I only like Impreza's for their running gear which i stole out of one i bought cheap & then shoe horned it into my Brat pickup making a 320bhp 4x4 with a 0-60 time that shames most modern performance cars off the lights & out on track too!! ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/shocked.png) ![](http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r33/astramaxed/24de3353.jpg) Tim....

P1 for me please ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Just love the look of them ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) This was our old one, WRX with the Prodrive Power Pack fitted! ![](http://img4011.photobox.co.uk/375050171789aa93f109c0273bc5978e3aa06523031b3bc58aa8fb1494ba14f9864e7f41.jpg) It was utterly utterly awesome! Two problems, You had to drive like a loon..... all the time, and that doesn't do anything for fuel consumption, which was the other problem ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) I'd have another in a heartbeat, but the Escort takes care of the above now ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Oh, I do have a Legacy Outback though! Possible daft question alert but is the P1 and 22B the same thing? There's a P1 for sale at a garage near me (it's now 6995 rather than 8995 in the picture) that always catches my eye when I go past. ![](http://www.uselessincorporated.com/4/UploadedImages/retrorides_0efeca38-711f-4cf7-996c-0e50fa07e5ad_1.jpg)

I like them, but they have a terrible reputation. The drivers tend to be 25 - 30 year olds in Asda clothing. I've never seen one driven 'sensibly'.

I was also a big big big McRae follower when i was younger. I managed to drag my dad to a dealership and he eventually bought this: ![](http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p60/LocoPolo/Subaru/DSC01466_edit.jpg) Arguably the most fun and raw of the turbocharged Imprezas. The nice stiff shell of the newage with none of the funny centre diffs, stability control etc. Eventually got the need for speed and bought this though: ![](http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p60/LocoPolo/Subaru/DSC02727.jpg) The last of the proper Imprezas. I got to test drive the 2011 WRX STi saloon a couple of weeks back and I really hoped that it would be heading in the right direction. Unfortunately things are still going down hill....

don't think I'd bother with one unless it was very cheap. just think they have been ruined by the chav brigade same as the the evos and gtirs . not bad cars as such but way more hype than substance

Absolutely loved Imprezas since I was about 6 and watching Jeremy Clarkson: Head to Head on Christmas day of about 1999/2000 and he had a group test that included a 22B and Evolution 6. A 22B has been my dream car ever since pretty much, and as a kid I was obsessed with them, had the AutoArt 1/18 model and everything (still got it, missing the wing mirrors and exhaust due to me taking it everywhere as a kid, haha) Even got a ride in my Dad's workmate's Catalunya edition on one of my birthdays, I would have been about 7 or 8 ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) So here's what I'll be buying when I win the lottery: 1. A nice 22B, JDM import, maybe with a few light modifications: ![](http://www.autoviva.com/img/photos/282/subaru_impreza_22b_sti_img_22282.jpg) 2. Ex-Burns/Mcrae Tarmac spec WRC car, 1999 spec: ![](http://ll.speedhunters.com/u/f/eagames/NFS/speedhunters.com/Images/Dino%20Dalle%20Carbonare/2010/July%202010/STi%20Gallery/STIG-18.jpg) ![](http://ll.speedhunters.com/u/f/eagames/NFS/speedhunters.com/Images/Dino%20Dalle%20Carbonare/2010/July%202010/STi%20Gallery/STIG-48.jpg) 3. STi Version 5 Type-R Coupe: ![](http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_images/3/1974/4401/29934700002_large.jpg) 4. Gravel Express, just for the whole JDM import WTF-ness of it: ![](http://www.stationwagon.com/gallery/pictures/1996_Subaru_Impreza_Gravel_EX.jpg) 5. A few others, Catalunyas, Mcrae editions, Wagons etc etc. 6. A couple of offroad prepped ones, to thrash round the quarry that I'll also buy: ![](http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/hh166/JFoosWx/Cruises/20101030DIMeet06.jpg) ![](http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h137/kjsmith2266/100_1547.jpg) ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Even got a ride in my Dad's workmate's Catalunya edition on one of my birthdays, I would have been about 7 or 8 ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I sold my Catalunya number 21 last year after 15 months of fault free ownership. I'm 35 and not in the 'chav brigade' as someone above generalised. Was an amazing car and I 100% trusted my other half driving it too as it was so surefooted. 225bhp on tap without really being played with. I'd have another. Have a pic of it in last year's snow ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png) ![](http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c250/waferswafers/Various/IMG_0646.jpg)

Possible daft question alert but is the P1 and 22B the same thing? The P1 is an official UK-market car built by Prodrive - it was commissioned by Subaru as a reaction to the flood of grey imports of high-performance Imprezas. The P1 uses the same basic 2-door shell as the 22B, but the clue's in the arches - if you look at both cars, you'll see that the P1 is slender-hipped while the 22B has whacking great rally-slag arches. Basically the P1 is a UK-only model (only 1000 were built) which is a kind of 22B set up for British roads.

Every day's a school day on RR ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I take the imported 2 door WRX's is what the P1 was trying to counter? I've seen these much cheaper than the P1's as I guess they're not a limited run.

As far as I'm aware, any two-door is a rarity. The JDM WRX Type R STi was a 2-door coupe and not technically a limited run, but they're pretty scarce and I think that's the only two-door available besides the 22B and P1. Although I could be wrong...
