Yes, Imprezas are full of awsome-ness! This ones my current daily (though not Retro) - = 280 BHP of 'Stealth Chav' chariot ;D. Its my first J car / Subaru & its pretty impressive! Handles like a go kart, coped with the recent snow really well & pretty much out accelerates anything in the rear mirror (Porsche & BMW drivers a speciality). And all in a practical & inocuous Hatch / Estate body. Personally think the stickered up rally replica's can look a little chavvy though!

Ive driven one, it went ok, handled well enough, but I just wasnt keen. Ive owned an R33gts-t auto, with nismo suspension, r32 gtr alloys, 3 ich turbo back exhaust, ARC FMIC and BOV, gtr spoiler etc for 1500 quid, and it out accelerated every subaru I met, and handled better than anything ive ever driven. Then there was a 300zx TT I bought for 700 quid, spent a few hundred quid and it was an out and out animal, ive never felt such brutal acceleration, was a bit too tail happy in the wet but in the dry it would bring miles of smiles Il go with what I prefer I like both of those to be fair but youve got no chance of getting even that r33 round a corner at impreza speeds, but i must say you stole that for £1500 mate, lovely cars, really fancy one myself. The 300zx is a cracker as well, cheap bang for your buck. I picked one up from retford for a lad local to me for £1100 with work done and it was rapid,I loved the cruiser driving position as well, really brutal cars, but the problem with both of them is that they`re not 4wd so don`t meet the criteria, awesome cars though they are. Obviously you can get a 4wd skyline but not for £1500,if you can please tell me!! £1500 is really a ballpark figure, the one I know for sale now (my old car ironically) is half that with t&t!!!

You did well on those prices going by what I see round here. good old ebay ;D the 300zx was about 3 years ago, the skylin was about 5 years ago, when you could still get bargains on there. still regret getting rid of them both but the new project will hopefully make that null and void ;D

actually with the nismo suspension the R33 chased a few imprezas round corners, seriously it was THE best handling car ive ever driven.

Photos I took at the McRae Gathering in Lanark. Colin's Series McRae Driven by his dad, Jimmy Colin's 22B I'd happily have a nice Classic or a Bug Eye if I didn't do so many miles.

All this talk about handling is a moot point really, unless the road is wet or you have monster power RWD is just as good at any speed your likely to see on the public roads, even the traffic light grand prix is not gonna be a certainty just because you have 4x4, launching a grippy 4x4 turbo is not easy.
I stayed in front of an Evo 7 in a 200bhp Cortina with some mild suspension mods, on paper he should have wiped the floor with me round the bends and i was far enough ahead of him that i wasn't holding him up either.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

When I was younger I hero-worshipped Colin McRae and by extension, Subaru. I dragged my poor dad into the Welsh forests for 9 years straight just to watch the guy. I swore blind that when I was old enough I'd have a first gen Impreza decked out in '555' and SWRT decals. I'm now old enough and I couldn't think of a worse treatment for such a brilliant car. I still want a p1 so much it hurts though.

Ive just been given a mint impreza turbo 2000, 1 owner from new, full service history all stamped in the book and not a spot of rust on it! had a stone go through the rad about 5 years ago, been parked in the guys garage ever since! He even gave me a new rad to put in! just got to change the head gasket and I'm off, Cant wait to have some spare cash to fix it! www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=6261381&id=514061795Its currently sitting next to my cortina........wonder if the running gear can be transfered....!

What, put the Cortina engine in the Scoob? Well, it'd annoy the purists...

I like spaceframed P1 coupe versions where the body is lowered so that the lights are below wheel level. I've seen them but can't find pictures now. I also like them dirty. Have a pic.

22B is my favourite too, although I don't imagine I'll own one any time soon. I was only thinking the other day that an original and good condition Impreza Turbo is going to be an appreciating asset soon.
I'd quite like to try an RA but not sure if it'd be too hardcore for me.
Good thread.

What you really need is a series 1 or 2 legacy turbo, same running gear as the impreza and sooooo much cooler (not to mention rare) I had 2 of them and would gladly have another, people just don't know what they are, the scooby burble has them looking for the wrong car! my old one-
