The more observant among you may have noticed a new section has appeared: Budget Motoring.
As the title says: It isn't modified, it isn't particularly 'retro', but it isn't new or expensive
If your car fits that description, please place your ad in there instead. The aim being to keep the main for sale board for the kind of things we'd see in the reader's rides section, a great RR forum thread or Retro Cars Magazine rather than your local ASDA car park.
The usual rules still apply, including the year 2000 cut-off. If your ad gets moved between sections, please don't be offended.

nice idea, but must be tricky to moderate. i don't agree with most of the cars being in the retro for sale area, compared to what you've stuck in the budget section. imho i'd have either left it as was, or had a proper 20 year old cut off. 20 year as thats what my insurance consider classic/retro/whatever.

You know what I'd like?
A split between projects and runners. People list the cars, and then you go look and find it's actually a box of bits, some rust and a suggestion you'll need a trailer or three...

There's no pics and I didn't read the entire ad...just enough to correct the title. I suspect that a 40mm lowering job won't be enough to get it out of the budget section though!

not really got any issues with the other section, but shouldnt it be called, not really retro, on the front page curretly are several cars that are all over a grand in cost
i see budget motoring as sub £500 cars..
maybe if it wasnt called budget motoring it might make a little more sense
fair play for keeping the non retro cars ads available and free tho

It's got to be called something and any title would mean something didn't fit! People would be offended if their car was moved into the 'other old curse word that people think is retro' section.
edit: and it's not a non-retro section.

I didnt say it was a non-retro section, I was saying it doesnt seem right to be called a budget motoring section. I think you've missed what i'm trying to say, budget motoring section would be like the sub £1000 section in autotrader, but you open it up and there is more expensive cars in there than there is in the main cars section for me, i'd rather click on a budget motoring section and see just that, cars with mot n tax for under say £500 or even £750 then maybe a projects section for all those without tax n mot?? thats all I was saying

I know what you're saying, but the budget motoring section is merely a place to put the 'normal' stuff that people seem to think is suitable for retro-rides. It's called 'budget' because it's the best term to cover the majority of the stuff in there without having to answer 300 PMs everyday from offended sellers who have had they're car moved into the 'uninteresting' section. I'd rather people used ebay, autotrader or gumtree for anything other than 'proper', interesting retro cars but unfortunately people appear to think RR has an obligation to sell their stock 1999 Vectra and refuse to take no for an answer. The budget motoring section means mrboringvectra has somewhere to sell his car and the real for sale section can be a place where recognised classics and retros don't have to compete with the stock Almeras and Lagunas that people decide are retro because they want a free ad. We don't want more sections; we want a section for the real stuff and another place to put everything else. Oh, and: I didnt say it was a non-retro section, I was referring to this: fair play for keeping the non retro cars ads available and free tho I just wanted to make it clear that there is no non-retro section.

Such a good idea - makes the sales board more enjoyable to browse (being over in NI means I'll rarely feel obliged to buy what I look at!) FWIW Lawsy, 'budget' means a lot of different things to different people. I know, as I'm sure you do, people that don't believe a sub-1k car will actually drive, and some who think £250 will buy you an 8 year old car with full T&T and no faults. It's the best word for the purpose intended though.

What he said, wont be too poular if noting sells because nobody looks at it, or like me putting a 98 car in the other section, then getting abuse for not putting it here, when i didnt know here was here.
