I thank you for giving me one of the few things my GF actually 'gets' - the Bullitt chase 'explains'/'visualizes' my affliction with all things petrol better than I can ever put into words.......
RIP Peter
I'll be getting the DVD out again

Yates' work in Bullitt merited a better continuity gaffer to help him in the editing room. The SAME beetle keeps showing up like 4 or 5 times in nearly every stretch of the chase. In the whole city of SF they couldn't find 4 or 5 more background cars to occupy the road?
Godspeed, Mr. Yates. You did the best anyone could do with what they gave you!

Not to mention the fact that the Dodge loses the same hubcap or beauty ring about 5 times too.
To be fair, we have learnt from that sort of thing, the art was in its infancy then.
If you are really eagle eyed you can spot the same things in modern movies. Most people don't care about background traffic same as we do. Sometimes its deliberate - Truman show (and itys a Beetle there too). I was watching "Enchanted" (2007) which my 3 y/o loves, so I've seen it a few times now, and has Amy Adams in it which makes the watching bearable for Daddy, and the same cars appear in multiple scenes. There is quite a nice '77 or so Oldsmobile Cutlass in a couple of scenes.

never mind bullitt, how about the original car chase from Peter Yates "Charlie Delta Two, what is your position? Charlie Delta Two, what is your position?" I love the whole BoB ethos of "Control" and the big map, and the microphoned-in updates, "They are trying to lose us on these corners.." LOL! The only thing missing are little models of bad guy cars and police Spitfires being pushed around a grid by WAAF girlies and their long sticks. Great stuff. Nowt seen it before. Any Cliff Richard's clips from "Summer Holiday" then? Hopefully he doesn't sing "Quando Quando Quando" or anything outrageous in it...

I shall be askig for the thread locking if anyone posts Cliff RIchard in here. I had to watch Summer Holiday over xmas with the inlaws. Never have I wanted tpo punch someone so much as the smug and cheery young Sir Cliff. I also suspect that he and Tony Blair are part of some bizarre "grinning fools who say 'guys' a lot" genetic experiment that went terribly, terribly wrong.

I wouldn't have thought the same man could be responsible for the chase from Bullitt and Summer Holiday, two films featuring two of the coolest movie stars ever. This is my favourite bit: RIP

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

A mate of mine had a movie on video, a black & white from about 1960 with a Wolseley 6/110 police car being thrown around like you wouldn't believe. I need to find out what that film is, the sequence is awesome.

Not seen the Robbery clip before, great stuff. It does show that he was consistent on contuity though. Whenever they show the getaway driver from inside the car, isn't he sitting in the back?
