I live near Llandudno, and my route sometimes includes Llanberis and Beddgelert down to Portmeirion, don't appreciate it till I go to a big city and I run home scared Great pictures bud. You are fortunate to live in such a beautiful area, I feel pretty fortunate living where I do, but Wales is just on another level! Tom

The Skoda Estelle is still taxed and MOTd until September. It looks similar to a Retro Rides member's from a while back... I have feeling that it may be a less than legitimate MOT as it has definitely not moved Tom

That looks great! I really like the look of these, preferring them even to a Mk4 Supra.

I'm sure we can all agree that 2020 is not turning out as the year we had hoped. So this thread is an ode to 2019, which for me, at least automotively, was a great year! It did not start well, when my trusty red shed succumbed to the dreaded tin worm. This manifested itself when the accelerator pedal fell off......not ideal. So it was broken for parts: So I was on the look out for a replacement. A red, Squareback without a sunroof were the requirements: Well......its a squareback, and has a good spec, being almost entirely GT converted. Only missing the black headlining, brake bias valve and boot lid vinyl. It even had the seats until I removed them. I will document some of my 2019 adventures over a few posts.

What do you love? If you love 205's and 106's get one. There is a lot to be said for the motivation provided by a working on a car that you're emotionally invested in. Unsurprisingly I would suggest a Mk2 or Mk2f Polo. Still plenty within your budget, very simple to work on, parts are cheap and everything is readily available, and they're pretty reliable. Tom

I'm slightly biased, but I would suggest Mk2f Polo. Only seem to have pictures of my old one on this computer: Edit. Current one with a mates: Tom

Excellent work. So satisfying to get a job like that finished and then have it fire up!

Dez would be the man to ask The front crossmember/front section of chassis is different as the front diff mounts to it. IIRC the way the lower arms mount is different too. Absolute piece of curse word to dump a 4wd body onto a 2wd chassis though, Minitruck style. I really like the idea of a Mini Truck style crew cab, L200 or Ranger, but over here they're all 4x4s. I guess the issue would be finding a decent 2wd chassis to put the body on.

I dig it in a strange way. I'm not a fan of the mirrors and the front lights but I've got to say I quite like the mad paint. Bit different innit. Its like the builder couldn't decide what to go with, so went with it all.
