Wasn’t the weird angle on BA because they were specifically designed for brass fixings, with it’s fairly low yield strength but self-lubricating properties? So they needed a large root but comparatively little shoulder? I find them quite ‘nice’ threads to work with, but I’ve only used them in fairly closed environments, like electrical stuff as jimi says. That’s exactly why they are that angle. They have rounded roots and peaks for the same reason. I quite like BA too. Don’t forget the CEI “cycle thread” which basically put a 55°, 26tpi BSF thread form on any diameter. Plenty of weirdness out there in Unified land with the smaller sizes below 1/4” being referred to by their gauge number. I’m a bit of a thread form nerd, and another obsessive that has to use “appropriate” fasteners on the vehicles in my care. 🤣

It looks like the previous owners’ heavy handedness has taken its toll on the poor little thing.
I’d still be interested if you want to bail out of it. 👍

Whenever I idly consider the idea of relocating to somewhere less cold and rainy, I see stuff about bitey stingy stuff that can really ruin your day, and it makes me think the cold and damp isn’t quite so bad. 🤣

I went up there today. Really enjoyed it. I didn’t think to look for you on the SIMCA stand, but I did have a brief nose around.
Also bumped into a Grumpy previous resident of this parish on the Jowett stand and said hello.
Great day, well worth a trip.

Nice!! They look excellent in white, the friend who sent me the link to this one currently has a lovely blue chico so I'm a fan. Looks good on steels too, maybe steels are the way to go. Steels are always the way to go. IMHO, obvs. 🤣🤣

I’d consider that as permanently fixed as it needs to be for the time being.
I hate sunroofs with a passion.
I can just about tolerate a factory one if the spec of car means getting one without is impossible, but the 1980s aftermarket junk that plagued a whole generation of vehicles still gives me the horrors. 🤣

I was considering a 629 for the Austin. They’re pretty hefty things though, and I’m still havering as to whether a pair of smaller ones would be better for me.
That’s a good spec though, and with deep cycle capabilities then it makes a lot of sense for a lightly used vehicle.

A set of slightly wider (mildly banded?) 15” steelies, with some taller rubber to fill the arches better would look awesome IMHO, and still appear stock to the uneducated. 😃👍

Much neater.
Younger siblings are a nightmare. My younger sister and my wife’s younger brother are the reasons why our son is an only child. 🤣

I’d just key it and paint it.
Actually, I’d probably just paint it.
But then finesse in bodywork isn’t my strong suit, and “good” paintwork is one where the bristles have stayed on the brush.

With the power you’re planning, I’d suggest that leaf springs and lowering blocks are a really bad idea. If you feel the need to stick with leaf springs then get them re-set to give you the ride height you want; lowering blocks are just a recipe for massive axle tramp.

Obviously, cats agree.
