I've noticed lots of 80s Peugeots on this thread. Here's one of me racing my 1988 Reynolds 753 Peugeot Perthus Pro in the early 90s. The photograph was taken at Templepatrick roundabout in a Kings Moss CC club circuit time trial. It's not a single speed at this point but was stripped down a few years later and set up as a fixed wheel time trial machine. I only raced. Peugeots for a few years and replaced this the following year with a Columbus SLX framed machine as my main machine. Happy days. s24.photobucket.com/user/peterhwilson/media/Mobile%20Uploads/SavedPicture77_zps896e5636.jpg.html]

Typical Northern Ireland. A bomb scare on the day of the photoshoot. Madness in the background and at least something sane in the foreground. Your cars are stunning. I'll look out for that issue.

That's some chopping and changing of cars over the last while. You certainly won't get bored with them. That Fiat is absolutely mental. The Beetle looks neat. Can't beat a Beetle in a good 70s colour.

Not only am I jealous of your Volvo but I'm also jealous of your blueberry haul when I think of the pitiful amount we got off our blueberry bushes! Your 164 looks fantastic as always and, as I mentioned on another thread, it's funny how the early Ladas/Vazs are looking more appealing with age. Unfortunately as they were always cheap and therefore disposable cars most have been scrapped now. Keep up the posts. I never tire of seeing your 164.

Exactly. That's what most will look like nowadays if they weren't all gathered up for scrap when scrap metal was worth something.

Its funny how twenty years ago when 305s and Ladas were everywhere and dirt cheap to buy, nobody who was interested in cars would have gone near them. Now, however, I find myself thinking that there's bound to be a fair few 305s lying around in barns as all the farmer's and county folk loved them. Mind you most were used as comfy tractors and any that are left will stink of hay, meal and damp sheep. Keep up the good work.

I thought that about my old 740 Volvo. The original plan was to run it for a couple of months and instead ended up keeping it for 3 1/2 years. In fact I would still be smoking about in it only for it being trashed by scumbag would be car thieves. You can get attached to cheap hack cars.

E36 nice but ooh that Lightweight., I've always wanted one of those especially because they rallied them in the 70s. See the book Fly Army.

That's some price for a radio. Good job you didn't pay that for it. That wood trim has come up nicely. Sounds like you're becoming quite fond of the C Class.

I see what you mean about the interior, or lack of it! Hopefully you'll get one sorted.

One of the best things about the 700 series is that they don't rot too much unless you're really unlucky. Mine had one spot of welding on a box section behind the d/s front wheel, although the support under the radiator had gone and would have needed to be done before the next MOT. Apart from that it was sound as a bell. Compare that even to a comparable 240 and you're likely to have a lot more welding on your plate. You should have seen the 88 240 GLT I bought last year. A sieve comes to mind. Unfortunately the 740s, in fact all old rwd Volvos, are now getting harder to find in reasonable condition without spending a fortune. Also if I do get another one I'll want to have it locked up in my garage overnight with a big padlock and chain around the steering wheel. Good luck with your 360. Always wanted to try a variomatic one of those to see if it really did go as fast in reverse as forwards!!!

Here's my new daily. 15-20 mpg on short runs eeeeek. Nice enough machine though. Plenty of modern Saab estates on here now.

Cheers for that. Unfortunately ran out of time and motivation before the tax ran out and I'd nowhere else to store it. Also what time I have for car fettling needs to go to my Saab 96 which needs stacks of work at the moment. Unfortunately the Volvo had to go. Mind you managed to replace it with a 9-5 Aero Hot estate which I've always had a soft spot for. Having said that there's a 740 saloon for sale here which I've had a look at before but I would need to move it on something on before I could get it. Some day I'll have another one.

Ok haven't posted for a while. Unfortunately my 740 is no more as a couple of months ago some would be scumbag car thieves attempted to nick my Volvo. Couldn't get the drivers door lock open so broke one of the rear quarter lights, demolished the steering column and dashboard but still couldn't get it away as they couldn't get the alarm silenced and as the Volvo steering lock is so over engineered it wouldn't break. They only left when they must have gotten a tip off that the Police were on their way. Four Police cars arrived complete with two dog handlers but still they got away. Would have loved to have seen them being caught by one of the dogs. My neighbour who spotted them at their work said they weren't put off by the alarm and that they just dandered off without a care in the world when they did decide to leave. I tried to motivate myself to fix it but too many things going on in my life at the moment so unfortunately it went to the big highway in the sky at the end of July when the tax ran out. So another classic Volvo bites the dust. Here's what was left of the interior. photobucket.com/user/peterhwilson/media/image.jpg1_zpsacjio7zv.jpg.html]

Absolutely fantastic. Looks great with those wheels. To think the roads used to be teeming with Fiat 127s and 128s but all but a few succumbed to the British climate. Great job.
