So it's okay not to have the kick-up now? Because I'd always worked on the understanding you had to have the pavement kick up relevant for what side of the road you drove on. No, it’s just for illuminating the verge and road signs. The kick up if present just has to be on the correct (N/S) side and aimed correctly. It doesn’t actually need to be there. US domestics never had it on either side, it’s just a formality.

US DOT specific lamps are compliant with UK regs as they have a flat cut-off. Worth seeing if you can confirm this with any sellers.

Is it the model with the Sensodrive gearbox? If so, it could be that. Cleaning the throttle body and resetting the auto adaptives would be a good start, provided you don’t have any other fault codes to deal with. Is yours a VVT version or a normal one? Another area to look at if it is. Also, be wary of cheap coil packs on TU’s. I’m not sure if the 16V uses the ignition phase detection system but the 8V does and cheap coils play havoc with it and often throw a code.

Hi folks, resurrecting this thread from the depths of RR's vaults - it's now MOT time again, we didn't change the tyres following last year's advisories and nobody has died. However, a pre-MOT inspection tells me they won't pass this year so we need three new tyres. I've always replaced tyres with the same make as was fitted from new or with a known recognised make (Pirelli, Goodyear etc) but as my wife does little mileage and no long journeys and it seems premium tyres are no better for durability than cheaper ones, it seems crazy to spend premium money on Bridgestones again. So the question is: what mid range tyres have people had good experiences with? thanks folks! (not the wife's car!) Cortinaman I’ve had Nankang NS2’s in the past on a BX and they handled well and lasted fairly well, my brother swears by Davanti and they are on his ‘hoon’ car. I’ve just fitted a pair of Landsails, I wanted to go with something a bit more upmarket but the tyre size on the 206 means you can get budget, ‘premium’ budget (landsail) and then anything over that nearly doubles in price so went with Landsail and to be fair they have been fine on that. I admit it’s not powerhouse but I give it a good kicking when I drive it and they seem fairly surefooted even in the recent abysmal weather.

Sounds like maybe 2 issues here. Temperature sensor is showing as wrong resistance if the gauge immediately jumps to normal on ignition on. I’d be looking into that if there are no actual other symptoms. Possibly the pump impeller is adrift, doing that along with a flush and new stat can’t possibly hurt.

I've had subs in a few cars and sometimes they end up draining the battery and causing no end of running problems, especially when it is an old battery or of unknown health etc. On a previous car it used to dim the lights at night lol. I've never run a sub on this car so it's just to be cautious really. Plus it's handy to be able to turn it off without fiddling with all the settings eg if I'm listening to an audio book or sports or whatever. You're right though, it'd work fine going through the stereo too. Hadn’t even considered wanting to turn it off listing to not-music. That’s a fair idea. 👍🏻

After a late morning on the road, I arrived at TAB to see Colonelk after stopping on route to collect a thing. Or maybe 5. So then this happened. Which resulted in this. Mucho betterer.

Curious as to why you’d need a switch rather than use the radios amp remote output to turn the amp off when the radio isn’t powered? Mind you being able to isolate the remote lead isn’t a terrible idea.

Only if you swap every IMMO coded module and use the matching key or have the PCM IMMO removed or reprogrammed. And then I’m not sure you are going to notice much benefit.

Now I have a topper for the bed, means I can sleep in it (provided the weather doesn’t come in the tailgate. Stayed at TAB in it at the end of Jan, admittedly with a -30° survival limit sleeping bag and a small oil radiator. Snug. Anyway, update. In my hoard of spares was a tach cluster. I had a nose at that today as I had the facia off to do some work on the alarm/cdl. Found someone had cut the tracks on the lamps for the SRS, Belt warning and Security LEDS and removed the ABS bulb. Initially, as the boards superficially appeared the same I swapped them over to the tach front panel but that left me with a tachometer that displayed the fuel level and a fuel gauge that showed the oil pressure. Funny that all the gauges are driven with the same PWM protocol and step motors. So I plugged the tach panel in instead. In a bizarre twist of fate the milage is within 500 miles difference higher on the tach panel, so I can live with that. So I repaired the tracks. Testing.. Cleaned and fitted. Had to swap the lens from the old cluster as it was badly marked on the tach dash, as well as the PRND panel blank as the tach came from an auto. But looks smart now. Gave the interior a quick swizzle with the vacuum after fitting a new drivers door seal. Always torn where people get in and out. And with that, when someone complains about how big SUVs have got, bear in mind this is only a mid-size 1/2 tonne truck.

The only problems that I'm aware of with Peugeots of this era seem to be the sourcing of the correct fitment / version parts, as they seemed to use multiple suppliers - a friend has the same issues with his phase 1 306. Rich will probably be able to comment if that was still the case with the 206? Not a problem I've encountered thus far. The 206 seems to be very much a lego set of parts in as much as stuff like the front panel will accept the cooling pack of any model etc. All rear axles are the same excepting the stub axle setup, drums with or without ABS (usually just supplied with) or disc. Definitely something I'd come across on other older PSA stuff though.

If the focus shape floats your boat, don’t discount the 206 That is a really good shout - I like that. Considering the design has been around since 1998 largely unchanged except for some style-considered facelift parts like lighting improvements and sportier bumpers I’d say it should be a contender especially with versions like the quicksilver with the 16V TU, spicy enough to be fun but simple enough to spanner on with no real issues.

If the focus shape floats your boat, don’t discount the 206, various hot models were made, and they cost buttons to maintain. I replaced the heater matrix and radiator in mine with change from a £20 from Euro car part’s close-out stock. The hatch (sedan, weirdly) ran until 2010 so you can find a really tidy example for not a lot. They are huge fun to throw around. Ours is a wagon, for practicality reasons, but even then, best looking compact estate in its class IMO.

I'm glad someone has jumped on this, I did keep looking at it myself but the space I have to work with said no. I look forward to seeing it resurrected!

Loving the updates as usual, especially the VOSA pull. I was talking to Bognor and ErmDer at TAB about the diddy skid van but I forgot to ask you about the trucks. Didn’t realise they weighed that much, that’s quite a lot of RC truck! Ahh, never mind man, was just good seeing you! It’s a heavy trailer, it’s nearly entirely metal. The big stick wrecker should be quite a brute too as most the of the wrecking gear, body aside, is going to be steel for outright strength. I was going to bring the Mercedes Unimog wrecker to TAB but our 206SW broke down conveniently outside work where I do all the car mending wanting a starter so was running late to leave and didn’t grab it. Another time Piccie

Fair point, 3 of them are polished (in need of being done again but I could do at home) and one of them had been painted silver (well). So either I strip the painted one and try and polish, or stick to the citi roots with white wheels. 1st World problems I guess 😂 Ahh, could be a good reason one is silver but that reason could be it’s from another set of wheels to make a set. I’d be torn on what to do there if it were me. 😬

If they are still wearing their polished finish it would be a shame to paint them, they look in great condition. Will suit it either way.
