Still beavering away at it and collecting bits and pieces, my latest fleebay purchase got me a set of door glass as l only had one because the other was smashed when a tree fell on it years ago ] But when l went to collect it he showed me his pile of triumph spares he had get had got them for some bits for his GT6 so l had a few other bits off him. 7/8" anti roll bar ;D been looking for one of these for age's but they go for silly money only paid him fiver . Going to fit a thinner front one to the rear oh and a rev counter which he gave to me ;D ] Also got a montery steering wheel in good condition' ] the alloy needs cleaning up but a quick go with polish came up like this, will wire wool it and then polish it later. Did get a pair of rear over riders these go for silly money and cost 70 quid each for new one's pair 30 qiud for front a back the rear ones had some paint on them but l though this would come off but when l started to remove the pait found the was filler underneath the bloody things, they were rotten and no good to even get rechrome , l've got some of that chrome self adhesive film so going to have a go at that as they were only a couple of quid for two sheets, l'll let you know how it goes My dad dugg me out some rear reflectors they are a bit rough but you can't get them anymore and saw NOS one go on fleebay for over 30 quid! So will make new backing plate and refurb them. Other than that l've been getting the rear tub ready for paint, because of having to weld up the wheel arch flange it did require a bit of filler to flatten it out and that was after using a dolly and hammer it didn't look to bad until l offered up the staight edge. I have filled in the old fuel filler hole which looks good ;D But after a few weeks work the n/s rear quater is done just now need the final fine filling and priming anf flatting down Other than that the boot has been seal sealed and primed and the front bonnet is nearly ready to be welded back together ;D final garage shot............... Cheers lads. Rob

Hi Rob,
It's all starting to come together mate. It'll be a huge day when you get it out of the shed. I thought my shed was small-How do you work in that box. The rear quarter is looking great. Keep at it-looking forward to your progress.

Thanks Dave, yer had double garage and shed at the last house so am always sorting and tidying stuff up and moving stuff around This weekend has been mainly building bonnet from the parts l scavenged from my two bonnets l had so sat morning l has this lot sitting on my drive ;D started with front panel to bonnet top the bonnet top had some accident damge so need a bit of work to get it to align with the front panel then puddle welded through the flange on the front is very small and it proved easy to burn it away but got the two together ;D then l welded the frame to the front panel and bolted it in place to hole the front panel in the right place realized that l need to attach the inner wheelarches before fitting the wings so offered the original repaird inners to the outer which ofcourse didn't match ] next was mounting the wing assembly to the assembled bonnet this took a bit of time to get everything to match, lot count of the number of times l clamped it on and took it of to bend a bit here grind a bit there, but finaly got everything to match up the D panel was fiddle to fit and l had to trim a bit to get it to fit again a bit of puddle welding and it was in ] that one there are three more.......... So sunday l fitted the other wing which took longer and more a period of curse word (s)!!! Finshed off welding the last panels in last night, so just need to tidy up the welds get some primer on it and fit it to check alingmnet which will of curse be a mile out knowing herald gap and flushness!!

Bonnets looking good rob think you have welded the "D" plates in upside down the left one is on the right and visa versa if that makes any sence

ah yes the D plates, someone on the triumph forum mentioned that, but this was on purpose, couldn't understand why they were fitted so any moisure would sit in the weld seam so fitted them that way up so water flow into the center and a couple of holes in the depression to allow it to drain away, ofcourse l'll have to reverse the joggle in the valence but thats no problem I've made some other mods to areas which seam to be a poor design and allow water to become trapped the bottom of the B pillar has some proper big rain holes ;D and plastic deflectors to protect the front outriger from stone chips and road curse word,

Hi Rob,
"Kermit" the Herald is looking sharp. It's amazing how a bit of colour changes the whole look. To be honest I'm liking it. ;D

Hi Rob,
I was wondering if you had done any work on the trumpy. It's really starting to look like a herald again. All the gaps and panels look pretty sweet. Can't wait to see it in that green colour. Whats your plan for the wheels and ride height.
I am hoping to get my front suspension before Xmas as I will have time to fit it over the holidays so will post some more pic's when I got some decent progress.
Keep up the excellent work. Looking forward to more photos soon. Have a great Xmas.
Cheers Dave.

Another updat Dave, thank's Frank(?) yer working on the old girl but other things have taken my time, but back to work again. Yesterday was able to get the tank done was a job l'd been putting off for a while but l got sick or moving it around the garage so got stuck in, first as you may remember cut the escort tank up to remove the swirl pot and flange for pump and gauge sender unit. So first thing was to modify the swirl pot so it could be welded in place this had to sit a little above the bottom of the tank, this will of course mean that the tank will have a gallon or so of fuel in it when the gauge will show empty but there we go. so added bracket to weld it in to the tank. have purchased some of that poor(?) tank sealer stuff so will whack that in and give it a slosh around and a lick of paint on the outside then it's ready to fit, why didn't l do that months ago!!! whats next?........ put a door skin on....

more work done over the christmas hol's inbetween eating and drinking put a coat of paint on the tank and bolted it up into place, then reffited the wiper motor after stripping it down and cleaning it, the grease had turned to ear wax fitted new spindle boxes as the old one's were seized up. them moved onto the heater and other engine bay stuff fitted the original splash panels and added an extension to it so l had somewhere to bolt the header tank to then got onto modifiying the panel to take the escort rad, ok so l had already made some brackets for the top of the rad so had to cut them up and modify them, you've got to be prepared to do some jobs atleast a couple of time when you're building a one off then went indoors and made up some bracket to hold the polo blower into the herald heater box that should give the heater some oomff ;D still haven't done the doors...........

thanks em when are you updating with some progress? We have done some work on the doors and tackled stripping down the quater windows then drilled out the bradd rivet at the top and then l could remove the quater glass, while l was trying to remove the glass from the frame yet more rust exposed it's self and the frame had rusted from the inside and was so thin it split last night l built up a door ready to fit the outer panel at the weekend

well at last l have one of these done and really it turned out to be straight forward, sorry no work in progress picture because wifee had the camera ] assembled the frame into the door and refitted the hinges and then bolted it onto the body and it fit's a treat ;D good gap to the rear and to the screen around so well please ] but as for the gap at the front to the hood..... well you could drive a bus through it going to have to raise the body to close the bottom because the hood is as far down at the front as it can go, oh well that's typical triumph chassis car problem. But atleat she got to out into the sunshine and l could have a bit of a tidy up ;D also got a set of brand new rear over riders insted of going to Stoneliegh ;D Cheers!!

Nice work Rob. That bonnet bracket looks a little more substantial than the originals.
It's amazing how busy things get in the engine bay.... you always think there's heaps of room then.........it's full. The engine bay is looking very nice with all the shiny magpie bits. It's going to look a treat when the paints done. I hear from my in-laws that things are still cold over there.... I hope it warms up soon so you can paint.
