Hi guys, First of all thank you for taking the time to reply - I'm obviously not happy to see that a few of you have had bad experiences with ourselves. I'm keen to look into any issues if any of you would like to PM me your details and some information on what has happened. We take these comments on board and will always try and prevent repeat occurrences, we'll hold our hands up when we've done wrong and will look to correct things. I cannot discuss specific policies on an open public forum but will happily investigate individual cases via PM. We, as any large company do make mistakes and will do our utmost to rectify these, although we do have thousands of completely happy customers who have been with us for years. Thanks again and apologies Kind regards, Dan. There's a similar thread to this on Piston heads only its 20 odd pages long and from the look if it theres seems to be a lot of unhappy people on there with the same problems as above. The reply form I,Flux is the same almost word for word as you have said here. Are you the same person?
probably "Dan" from flux is on a lot of forums

Yeah Dan is on E36Coupe forum to, one of the reasons I got a good deal years back. If Dan's involved with your quote, you will get a great deal & if you have a problem it will get sorted.
The Flex drive does actually sound like a great idea, it's just a shame a couple of members of staff have soured my experience with them.

Many cars insured over the years with FLux, but recently got shafted by them for fees to close the policy after id sold the car, Bearing in mind id paid up front, never claimed once, (on any of the 13 or so policys) they still wanted alot of my cash just to wipe that car off the system. Wont ever return.
As others have said, Customer services actually matters!! try getting that right and then start peddling these gimmicks because you might still have some existing customers to sell to.

I wont insure with them anymore either. i received a letter 7mths into my policy advising that the 3rd party extension was a mistake and i wasn't actually covered, glad i didn't need to make a claim before. Also had to cancel a policy after a month (paid upfront) and received a pittance back, no thanks.

Ooo I just remembered another. My gf sold her Alfa which was insured with them. She wanted to transfer the insurance to a mini but it was more than a brand new policy. When she told them she'd leave it for now, the woman told her she was breaking the law if she didn't cancel the policy, forcing her to cancel it and pay a cancellation fee which again, was more than the remainder of the policy.

Not wanting to detract from the thread, but it goes to show it can be done.
Coming from the UK, I was used to all the horror stories about car insurance and indeed, had a couple myself. So when I came out here, I was dreading what would happen. We won't talk about Malaysia because nothing happens at all. Don't bother making a claim, you'll never see anything. Then we came to Manila.
Went to cover the Range Rover and was told they couldn't normally do fully comp on a vehicle over 15 years old, but if I sent them photographs, they'd consider it. Consider it they did and the next day, for just over 200 quid, I was insured FC not only for accident damage but for flood, earthquake and typhoon damage as well. Excellent service. Oh, and it doesn't matter where I live either. Address makes no difference to premiums.
Now, I've never had a claim but the missus, who's had two now in her motors, just called them up and they said just stick it into a body shop of your choice, let us know where, we'll contact them and when it's finished, we'll pay them direct. No argument, no hassle, no fuss and more to the point, her premium came down the following year!
If they can do this in the "third" world, why is the UK so cocked up?

Seriously do they release their numbers anywhere?
Because most young drivers I know are ripped for between £2000 - £5000 for their insurance.
Most seem to get shafted for this for almost 5 years.
So lets low ball it, one new driver pays £3000 for their first year, £2000 the second and £1000 the third.
Thats £6000 for how much effort on the insurers behalf?
That means just 20 new drivers would net the insurer £120,000. Unless someone is writing off an R8 every week its a massive con and SOMEBODY needs to bring in some new laws to this clear bull manure.

But smash up on a dual carriage way, bus stops, houses. Thats not taking in to account for whiplash or injury. I got a 10k bill for the barriers on the A1 and I only caught 3 and that was at 50mph! I agree it needs to be regulated as the money they charge is obscene, does insurance really need to be over £600 on the first basic car?

Not a very good analogy to be honest. I would imagine insurers do have to pay out considerably on young drivers in their first 3-5 years of driving. I bet they are constantly inundated with claims. Speaking from personal experience, I thought I was Nigel Mansell for my first three years of driving, and it was only my third accident, at the age of 20, which gave me recurring unpleasant dreams based on it, which humbled me massively. It's a shame that Flux seem to have p'd off so many ex customers; as I said earlier in the thread, I've had nothing but positive experiences with them for the last 20+ years. It would be really useful, rather than just detail bad experiences, for people to name brokers who they have had positive experiences with, when insuring modified cars. Maybe Flux could then take that on board.

The government won't change the law to give you cheaper car insurance,if they did it would mean less insurance premium tax for them. In a lot of countries the registration process has third party insurance included. We get ripped off because of greedy people.

Never again. You could offer me completely FREE insurance, and a £10,000,000 payout in event of an accident, theft or fire and I'd still find cover elsewhere.
Tried to insure an Import, to be told after they'd taken the money that they couldn't cover it. Wanted £250 to cancel the policy, over their error. Then refused to cancel the policy that was less than an hour old after irregularities were found in the information they had apparently copied from the forms I'd submitted.
On the whole, FY!
