Yesterday- we (myself and two buddies) cut the mounts off of the frame and made room for the new power plant. Today, I modified the mounts to drop into a closer position. It'll go back to the firewall a bit more, but this is basically it.
I absolutely HAD to put on the engine covers and take pictures. Lots to do- but yeeeeeHawwww.
And today I fabricated the new engine perches that will accept the rubber mounts. It's all moving in the right direction. Well, except for the fact that Edd China has left Wheeler Dealers to be replaced by Ant Anstead. Nice guy that Ant, but it's not going to be the same.
The way I have built the stanchions to carry the factory mounts, will also carry the aftermarket ones. The horsepower ratings on the aftermarket ones, exceed the factory units, I spoke with them directly on the phone. It's just a better, cleaner setup. Plus- they offer several of the other items I'll need to use such as a pedal adapter, oil cooler relocator, transmission cooler line adapter plate, etc.
Ok- I picked up the throttle pedal, wiring harness, airbox, MAF and this very expensive bit o kit to make it RUN. I'm waiting on the motor mounts but I'm certainly not letting that stop me from moving ahead with this build. I've painted the firewall/bulkhead and the cowl. The gearbox is painted blue and bolted to the engine. I think I need to do an update on this thing.
I'll do a video update that shows everything, near the end of the week.
