...a statement that holds true is "They don't make 'em like that any more". That statement must have been invented with Mercs in mind. Everything before they started using prefix letters in model names (there may well be exceptions to this, but it's my rule of thumb) is

Not very practical, is it? Where do you put your shopping? ;D If that really was a consideration, there is another car in the video (15 seconds from the end) with a boot and everything

Is 1993 retro enough?
I know it's not a car ad, but it is related. Possibly my favourite advert of all time:

Had a screen crack because I had the blower on full (Volvo V40, the blower heated up very hot very quickly). It made a very big bang, I actually ducked when it went! ;D

I was reminded of a book I had many years ago in the '80's plastic-fantastic' (http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=93172&page=1) thread. Anyway, I was in the loft today getting the Christmas tree down, and what was sitting in the box next to them? 'Dream Cars', by Ian Kuah, published in 1986. I don't have a scanner to post the book itself, but here's a selection of highlights from it. Artz Porsche shooting brakes: Buchmann 928: Lamborghini Athon: Isdera Imperator: Peugeot Quasar: Sbarro Challenge: Treser Quattro: Treser Largo: Vector W2:

These two methods should never be used in conjunction with one another. A mate use to have a novel way of defrosting his door lock in early hours of the morning when finishing a late shift. He wee'd on it The key-on-tongue technique works but takes a while.

I agree with the previous comments on the psychological value of putting it on with a low start and no reserve; of course people do want to get a bargain, but they also have a budget. The low starting price will get their interest, in the hope they'll get it for cheap, but they'll still bid up to whatever they think it's worth.
And you can always pull the listing before the end if it doesn't look like you're going to get as much as you wanted.

I really don't get it.
However you dress it up, it's a badge your car has to wear because the man says so, and that's what it will always look like, regardless of font, colour, etc. I wouldn't enjoy paying my council tax any more if they used 'comic sans' font on the letter.
Each to their own of course, but I'd rather not get pulled for something unimportant but easy to spot. They might well be wrong about the legalities of your plate, but once they've pulled you they won't stop looking until they find something they can do you for.
I'm going out now, to try and spend the fiver I've coloured in pink and drawn some horses on.

Awesome. I've just read the entire thread, and what's struck me is the consistency in the quality of the work you've done.
Well done on the build, and well done on having the balls to live like this.
