It's just an hour of silliness about cars, and all the better for it. 350 million viewers worldwide (according to Wiki) means they must be doing it right! I'm old enough to remember the William Woolard/Chris Goffey/Michelle Newman years, and believe me watching grass grow was a much more engaging pastime. Can you imagine 350,000,000 people sitting down to an hour of this every week? Yawwwwnnnn.... I've never really understood why anyone would want to watch an hour of 'serious' TV about cars. Especially not these days when a million pieces of footage about your own favourite motor is just a mouse-click away. Well I would, and did (just now, and when it was first on probably). Thanks for posting that I wouldn't be interested in watching that type of review on a modern car though; I wonder if you can get the old episodes on DVD?

I've got a 1.9D and it's a brilliant little car. It handles ok, though I have nearly spun it once or twice But performance isn't why you bought it. It'll sit in traffic all day, 70/80 is comfortable, the seats are ok, and the room in the back is ok. There's enough room in the back, and with the seats down the boot is massive. Did well in the snow too (apart from the locks freezing every day!).

I enjoyed it. So what if they spend a lot of time on supercars? If I want to see other types of car I'll watch something else; there are plenty of other car programs.
I did start to think I was in the eighties at one point-Tiff Needell, Hammond apparently dressed as Tony Mason (in the 911 bit), they just needed Quentin Wilson to complete the set.

On the subject of insurance, don't forget if it's taxed it needs to be insured or you will be fined. On a SORN you are OK. Just something to remember if it's still in your name and you are changing cars/policies. Most insurers will let you change the policy over to the new car, then add the old one on as a temporary vehicle until you get it sold.

You are bored. On your own. £20 rattling in your pocket. It's a nice day outside. Fancy a drive? I know it sounds a bit sad but I have this route that does nothing but make me appreciate the open road in my old SAAB. Start off at home. cruise along A2/M2 then down through some lovely country lanes to join the flattest, straightest stretch of the M20, then up bluebell hill towards home. Anyone else have a route they take for no reason at all apart from driving enjoyment? You should try going back along the A20; not a particularly exciting drive, but the scenery's nice, and there's lots of long sweeping bends. Far better than the M20 anyway!

A cursory Google just throws up loads of copies of the same picture, with exactly the same text.
Nearest modern equivalent I could find was this:

I thought Dolomite as soon as I saw it. But I don't think it is.
Rover P6 I reckon. Wing, not door mirrors. That rear edge of the roof. I think the flat back is a red herring-the tarp's just stretched between the tops of the rear wings; in the first picture you can see the corner isn't as sharp as the second makes it look.

^^^ What everyone else said.
I shouldn't like it, but I do. A lot. I didn't even like 3-spokes when I was an avid Max Power reader in the 90's!

Why do no manufactures do small pick-ups in the UK any more? Because they're not particularly practical given our weather? Or possibly, to make those people who do have them too be more unique and therefore And why hasn't anyone done a Renault Espace pickup?

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the Covorado: It's a re-bodied Corvette. The body is from (having seen Amazo's post there's no prize for guessing!) a Cadillac Eldorado. You might recognise it from Live & Let Die (best film eva!)

Praticality doesn't tend to be the first thing we look for in a car. We see plenty of two-seaters on here. People use pick ups with a semi permanent over over the bed. There's the odd stripped out car with only 1 or 2 seats left in. Boy racer types sometimes replace the back seat with dustbin lid-sized speakers. So why not a truck or pickup with nothing on the back. Just the bare chassis. A CF on eBay got me thinking about this, and while it's obviously not being used in this state (no number plate or rear lights), does anyone run something like this?

...I've not done an exhaust before but it can't be too hard. I just need a place to do it :/ Did the downpipe on mine a little while ago-Kwik Fit wanted about £130 to supply & fit-the local motor factors had the part for under £30! I'm not an experienced mechanic by any means, but I did it in the road-and the middle section and back box are a lot easier. Axle stands will give you plenty of room to get at it.

Personally, I think it's much cooler the other way up: Looking during construction: All you see above ground: See www.trevipark.co.uk/after-intro.html for more. Totally automated; you drive onto the platform, and it lowers your car down then spits it out into an empty space. Very cool. Having said that, if I had my own underground carpark I'd want to drive out myself, through a cave. With a 'road closed' sign that folded down as I approached. Like Batman.

Whatever, as long as our kind of cars keep on appearing in a prime-time slot I'm happy. ^ That. Brewer is a bit of an idiot. They barely make a profit on their figures, before you factor in labour/tools etcs. In the 'On the road' episodes they ignored the travel costs incurred collecting the cars. Half the time they save money by calling in favours from friends in the trade. When they sell the car they invariably take less than they could get, but that's ok because he buyer is going to enjoy/look after/keep it on the road. But it's only a television program. It's far from perfect. But when I'm at home during the day and the choice is a bloke fixing interesting cars, or Jeremy Kyle shouting at chavs, it's not a difficult decision.

Just forgetting the whole IVA headaches for a minute, please someone do it.....it would just be AWESOME!!! ^^ WHS Preferably someone with a bit of land-you can charge people to come round and have a go in it. One of the early V8 240 conversions was built for Paul Newman wasn't it? It was actually a 960, and it was also supercharged. Still very cool though. (and if it fits in a 900, it should go in a 200 too). Wheelspin in 5th with a wardrobe in the back
