Jesus. That could be awesome. I've seen a few funeral directors using Aussie Fords for hearse and limo duties recently. The alternative seems to be the Vauxhall Insignia hearse, looks like a saloon has been reversed into a greenhouse.

Possibly brilliant connection with your username: didn't the mid 90s Civic VTis come in Pirates Black? They were awesome, I wanted one of the regular VTIs when they were new but couldn't insure one. I've seen a few VTis advertised locally that are one owner, under 100k with dealer history for a grand or so.

VW Corrado Did these have an active spoiler? Well, I'm asking but I already know they do because I saw one at the weekend and I'm still amazed that a) I didn't know they had them and b) I saw one that was still working on a pretty rough looking car.

Great write up. I find myself doing lots of this sort of driving and not much of the nice crusing and visiting car shows that lots of people get up to. Glad to know it's not just me...

Oh dear!! You cant read properly either can you!! Reading is good, I highly recommend the Modus Operandi sticky post. Here's the best bit... While I agree with your point about the sarcasm being unhelpful, your ranting isn't any better. Back to this important subject please!!! Dropping that in at the end isn't going to give you the moral high ground after subjecting us to your bile filled posts. If this thread is important to you, beyond the potential for a good argument on the internet, then keep it on topic by building a bridge and getting over this.

Don't worry about it unless they're of use to you, the auction ended with no bids. I only posted it because they were pick up only and very local to me.

- Louder dual-tone horns with switch The extra I love the most are the horns! They have a switch to switch between the normal (legal) horns and the extra-loud horns ;D And I certainly will use them a LOT! ;D That's true luxury, an extra-loud horn for clearing the poor people out of the way. The most expensive W124 in '88 was the 4WD Turbodiesel-Wagon, starting at 73.188,00,- DM. I can understand that, I'd chew my arm off for a 4wd W124 TD estate. That would be a very nice piece of kit.

Show me, for example, where the failure criteria against Springs and Shocks include fitment of non-standard coilovers. Still no answer to this one then? He was busy responding to another hater, I'm sure he'll get to you next.

Great colour scheme. This must've been one of the most expensive models when it was new, did you get any documentation saying what the first owner paid for it?

the only people who have enough clout to stop something like this are large companies who shift big quantities of bolt on tat, such as halfords. if it stops them selling cheap nasty alloy wheel packages and lowering springs over the counter to the lower end of the modifying market, they WILL get involved. This is the best, most practical thing I've read on the subject of "we must do something, but what?". Halfords made £80m profit in 2011. Demon Tweeks turnover about £20m a year. There's a lot of money in this and these companies need this legislation like a hole in the head. To be fair, they'll probably already have a plan to respond to this, they may already have been consulted on the plans. If they get enough correspondence on this, they may see a PR opportunity in throwing their weight behind a publicity campaign. I can only really think of Demon Tweeks and Halfords, who are the other big suppliers to the modification industry? We should be writing to them, asking them how their businesses will respond to a change in rules that mean using some of their products means that the car is no longer fit for the road without a detailed inspection. Just a thought, what's the current turnaround time for an IVA, I'm sure I read somewhere that there's a wait of a few weeks, is that still the case? I don't have much confidence in them coping with a big spike in people looking for IVAs after relatively common mods.

If she's given you an indication that she wants you to move your cars elsewhere then this happens, she might fall foul of the rules that protect tenants from bad landlords.
Document eveything, take loads of photos, get your gear and cars moved then take some advice from the Police.
She was either very clumsy or totally vindictive. Either way, you'll be better off elsewhere.
How about a pic of the Jag before the accident?

Found via BayCrazy, very local to me, dead cheap, no bids and pick up only. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251131546396Happy to pick them up and put them in the post if they're useful to anyone. A bit of a pain that there's no detail of what models the cars are from, though they might not be available so cheap if the listing was better?

When I read this, I immediately thought of the VW 1L from 2002, which is sixty odd years newer but remarkably similar. The 1L concept was so-called because it did 100km on a litre of diesel, which is about 230mpg.

Great work. When you drove it away did you find you had an overspray outline on the drive where it had been parked?
There's still a BRG overspray outline of my old Mini on my Dad's drive where I did some sill and valance repairs in 1996.

Hmmmmm. Seems like an excuse to allow police to pull over for a spot check. Don't get me wrong, I think this mot exemption for pre '60 is a bad, stupid and pointless idea, and it's now turned into "if you mot it you'll pay normal insurance". If you don't then your insurance will rocket". Meaning that the only reason not to mot would be so you could run a car that wouldnt pass an mot. The driver would get pulled everytime they used it because it won't be on the system, and it'll be pointless to drive an motable car without a test because it's now the more expensive option. So now nothing changes. Without an mot insurance will go up a LOT, it defys logic to drive a car without an mot unless it's not roadworthy, the car still has to be roadworthy. It would be illogical for the police not to pull over an un mot'd car for a spot check! To some extent I think you're right but the practicalities are that there are fewer police cars around that might pull you over just for a check. Do they have the resources for that? As ANPR is more widely deployed I reckon they might use that but I'm not sure if they can issue the HO/RT check paperwork by post having seen you driving on CCTV. Maybe it varies between local areas but I used to find I was pulled over a lot more years ago for checks when I was riding modern, completely standard sportsbikes on the basis that I was a biker and now that I ride modified cruisers that take liberties with lighting and number plate regs, I never get pulled at all. I've always put this down to there not being the time or the will for the Police to stop and check unless you're obviously doing something wrong.

Have you done anything to the 405 to make it more hardy it or is it important to keep it as standard as possible so that it can be fixed easily?

I clicked on that and got very excited about what was for sale locally, then I realised that it wasn't using my postcode. A much duller selection appears when I use my own postcode... Some good advice above, expecially some of the unloved 90s hot hatches. I occasionally see hot hatch Xsaras and Almeras on Gumtree for much cheapness, the car mags back when they were new rated them highly but acknowledged that they'd never compete with the Golf GTi because of what we now call scene tax.
