I am the lucky new owner, so yes I am reading!
It's a lovely little truck and I'm very happy with it. Please remember the seller had not got as far as posting his own photos up, so although it's great for the money, there is still a lot of work that needs doing that doesn't show in the other guys photos, so I probably haven't got quite the bargain everyone assumes I have.
I'll have a think on the spare wheels...if you send me your number by pm, I'll let you know.
Andy

I read an article recently about how all the modern keyless entry stuff is having the codes clones as the driver uses the fob, so thieves can now steal cars easier than any anything in the past. The police are now advising a return to these retro crook locks!

The commission is bound to be high, but with the figures they seem to advertise at, I imagine the money in your pocket will still be better than you could achieve yourself.

Ive seen photos of the mythical rust free MK1's on the internet, but admittedly never seen one myself. I'm not in a rush (i already have another one on the road) so i'll see what turns up, and if i don't find one as clean as i would like, then i would rather start with one as close as i can get and still strip it right back to bare bones.
Incidentally I have just sent you a message about your spot welder for sale!

Thanks for the link, i had actually already spotted that one! It looks a good price for what it is, but i can see quite a bit of rot on the arches and rear quarter in the photos...and from experience if they look like that in the photos, these things will be an absolute dog underneath in the flesh!

I am on the lookout for a nice rust free MK1 MR2.
It would be ideal if someone has a clean shell tucked away, but I realise that is very hopeful. I have another couple of mk1's including a rare tintop which unfortunately is too far gone to repair rust wise, but I would like to build it all into another shell. I would intend to blast, seam weld and respray the new shell, so paint condition and minor dents are not important, just as little rust as possible so I can build something that will last.
If I can't find a nice shell, I am prepared to spend good money on a nice original car, but if I do that I am quite fussy. It will need to be a sunroof or tintop model but not a T bar. It also needs to be in original rust free condition, not one which has had previous rust repairs/ welding or restoration. It will also ideally be red!
If anyone has anything, or knows someone who has, please get in touch. I'm near Colchester in Essex but prepared to travel for the right car.
Thanks, Andy

When you say, pump too slowly/too fast etc, what are you using to control that at the moment?
It sounds to me like you could regulate flow by restricting the outlet at the end of the pipework whatever that is going into? That way the pump can be driven fast enough to generate the pressure you need to get it where its going, and then limit flow via a valve at the destination to a point that the land can saturate the well quickly enough.
Pumping slowly and maintaining pressure will depend on the type of pump, centrifugal etc. I'm no expert, just a plumber... but we do have a bit of land with a borehole and small pump which supplies a tank and then another larger pump feeding an irrigation system from that.

I have a 2 door Viva HB that I keep meaning to get around to selling.
It was mot'd when I bought it, and although it's long run out now, it's been dry stored ever since and I would retest it if you are interested.

If you do fancy the fiat twin cam idea, I have a good 2.0 engine and gearbox with just about everything needed to get it running. I have two different gear selectors for the gearbox as well which might help with gear lever positioning, one is an abarth extended shift housing I believe.
As mentioned above, I'm afraid it won't be particularly cheap, but they do have a bit of character!

I paid £70 for one of these probably 15 years or so ago now to use as a field car. It was absolutely brilliant and pretty much nothing would get it stuck. It ended up getting scrapped and i feel a bit guilty especially with the price of them now!
I also went snowboarding in Andorra a couple of years back and these are running around all over the place, which must say a lot with the conditions they are driving in!

Only just found this, and it's all useful info for getting the job done if you can't get to a tyre fitter in working hours.
The only bit that really annoys me which someone has already mentioned above...don't put them on someone's tyre pile, that's not on. Running a business myself I find that sort of thing hard to swallow...it still costs the business to dispose of them, and small places like tyre fitters are not made of money. It's just the same as stealing as it's coming out of their profit at the end of the day!
