well as my mk 1 fiesta is years away from being finished I thought I should get a cheap retro for the summer, saw this gem on the bay and after some furious bidding shes mine , or will be when I pick her up. It failed its mot recencly on rust to the sill and near the suspension, luckily I'm owed lots of favours by fellow retrorider jaminben and he loves welding. So provided its not completely rotten I'll get a test on it , lower it and a set of wheels and see how I like it

Here's our ride on mower we use at my garage to tow (dead) vehicles in and out. Easily does VW T4's and has towed a big american pick up. Only issue is getting enough traction. wow, thats a beauty!!! ride on is ok as well

Well dreadnought , it sounds like you've just volunteered yourself as chief organiser of this soapbox event!!! good luck !!! cant wait to start building my soapbox
I totally agree!!! i've never camped at the rrg but will be in 2014 and i'd be more than willing to help. Provided this idea is sanctioned i suppose a new thread with rough rules etc should be started

sounds like a cracking idea! car theme, comunity spirit, change of pace... everything a good show needs. I'm suprised you seem to be shunning this idea HW. the lunchbreak during morning and afternoon session is an hour surely they could be squeezed in there if ran by volounteers.? ie give the marshalls/organiser staff etc a rest while stand ins take over for lunch. would obvioulsy have to be a limit on entrants, and some safety rules etc... I was going to suggest opening the hill up to people with drift trikes during the lunch hour for a laugh but this is a much better idea.! I don't want to be peeing on parades but surely insurance for this would be a nightmare. I for one wouldn't want to jeopardise such an event as this if someone was to flip something made of plywood and pram wheels resulting in a nasty injury. unlikely I know but it could happen. Saturday is a bit of a "nothing going on" day but we have the entire campsite for this type of thing. I`d be happy to partake in the helping out of organising/marsheling(ha ha) this on a Saturday. could even do a shorter version for parent/kids version. Well dreadnought , it sounds like you've just volunteered yourself as chief organiser of this soapbox event!!! good luck !!! cant wait to start building my soapbox

The campsite is a big down hill and a big up hill, plus rougher for more crash hilarity. Why not do it round there, yes more pushing involved but you could factor in driver changes and the like. I would even be willing to make up 1st 2nd and 3rd car tat trophies. Cos I WILL be there. Oh yea baby. Sounds like a plausible idea..........

No... because we'd have to shorten the afternoon session by an hour then and it is already too short. Saturday is out... you are very likely to get run over by the guy that lives at the top of the hill in his Audi R8. valid point ,Fair enough

ROAST DINNER PIE
1.Get all the left overs from your roast dinner.
2. Get some of that just rol pastry stuff or make your own if your posh and line a dish with it.
3.Chuck all the left overs and some gravy in the dish and put the pastry lid on it.
4. Stick it in the oven till its cooked.

Well it's been slow going on the festa , but things have started up again ! I was initially going to to try and do the welding myself and learn as I went but I pussied out ! It just so happens that the chap in the unit next door is fairly handy with welding and fabrication. So after waiting a few months for him to finish his own project he's started on mine. As the car's on it's side we thought we would starrt with the outer sill and small floor pan repairs . The following picture is not easy viewing , this is what we found after taking the sill off. The part arrowed is also rotten s1197.photobucket.com/user/dallow2/media/w3-1.jpg.htmlI thought the wire spongy repair was inspired . After a lot of cursing, sighing and cutting ed has started to put some metal back in i1197.photobucket.com/albums/aa430/dallow2/weld2.jpg[/IMG] So thats about it , I've managed to aqquire some front wings at a reasonable price from numptypi Avatar numptypi who was also a nice chap bumped into him at the gathering last week and he said he expects to see the festa at next years rrg , think he'll be disappointed!!! Change of plans regarding the engine , I've decided not to use the ultra reliable zetec and go for a rst engine instead, HOW HARD CAN IT BE!!!!!!!!

Re read the planning rules...2.5meters is to the eaves and the pitch roof can be up to 4m I think! Building a detached garage of less than 30 square metres floor area would not normally need building regulations approval if: the floor area of the detached garage is less than 15 square metres. the floor area of the garage is between 15 square metres and 30 square metres, provided the garage is at least one metre from any boundary, or it is constructed from substantially non-combustible materials. Having the building regs is worth the money, you know its being built properly then .

This is my 5th Gathering, and for me it is always the best event of the year by far, the camping is a must to get the full atmosphere of the event imo, ohh, and thanks for the compliment, I hope the car didn't disappoint (but what hope has anyone got against a bloody awesome 1000bhp Quattro) well i enjoyed watching your car spitting flames whilst supping on a pint, epic!
