My eldest bought a focus from a ‘friend’, i do really use the word advisedly One of those mothers who put the pushchair into the road to see if its clear did exactly that, causing her to take fairly violent avoiding action She damn near lost control of the car, and hit a traffic island with a front wheel. I was working away so she took it into the local Formula 1 place to get the tyre and tracking checked They refused to let her drive it away, the steering rack was only held into the car via the column and track rod ends, and the captive nuts had the threads pulled out, with bolts that were too short to reach them anyway It had passed an MOT like that three weeks previous, before she owned it ‘Well it was ok when i sold it!’ Ex-friend 🤬 We recently sold my son's Polo to one of his mates. I told him everything wrong with it that I was aware of. This wasn't much to be honest, if I had the space I would have kept it. I was still a bit nervous for a week or two just in case something went tits up. If I sold something with a fault like that at all, let alone to someone I knew, I wouldn't sleep at night.

I'm not raving if I'm honest but if I did wake up rich tomorrow I can absolutely guarantee that I would buy a lot of old curse word that I like.

Just because they do it for a living doesn’t mean they’re any good at it. Ain't that the truth. It's not limited to the motor trade either.

The cleaner air part is what everyone forgets. I work in Manchester but since March I've been at home. When I do go into Manchester you can taste and smell the difference in the air quality because there's so much less traffic. When it rains you get that fresh smell and when you get home your clothes still smell of detergent. Eventually normality will return, along with the traffic. Increasing numbers of EVs will hopefully have a similar effect though.

Very interesting viewing. It's nice to see EVs being discussed with some balance. Usually it's either EVs are panacea to all of the planet's problems or EVs are the spawn of the devil.

It's not a great photo I admit. My phone would only focus on the giant pick-up I cropped out. These have been here 25+ years. I think the car under the tarp is a Capri, purely because there used to be a 3rd gen Camaro, and a Capri keeping the MGB company.

Yep just shows the so called experts who berate them that this really was and still is a great car Well of course it is, I am quite biased tho Have a photo of mine That is lovely. I remember being given a lift in a Stag when I was very young by someone my Mum knew. I was probably only about 7 or 8 and the woman complained about the reliability of it but to me it was perfect.

Looks like a fun start to the day Wayne.
I changed an offside flat on the M62 just before the M60 once. 5pm on a Friday, absolutely horrible.

Flat with really fine w&d, da & compound, then apply wax or sealant. They will go a bit milky again but once you've done it properly once, a quick doing with the compound by hand will bring them up a treat.

Top bloke Ric Wood. I used to do a lunchtime dash from the centre of Manchester to Davenport to buy Capri bits from him regularly 20-odd years ago. Nice to see he's still as enthusiastic.

I will be working at home as I have been since March. I'd just got the nod to return to the office one day a week too.
However, I will be taking every opportunity to get my hat and gloves in and get my roof down.
I've barely touched the car since I bought it. I planned a remap but I guess that plan is moot for the time being. If the weather allows, a proper clean may follow.
My wife's CRV is going to celebrate 160,000 miles by going for an MoT so that might generate some jobs.

He was a real icon. Interesting story of him having a gun pulled on him by a mobster during filming as he was close to lana Turner. He disarmed the guy, bending his hand back. I read a slightly different version of that tale, that Lana Turner was dating a mafia bloke at the time they filmed together, during a break the mafia bloke slapped her, and Sean decked him. The gangster was Johnny Stompanato, Mickey Cohen's right hand man. He subsequently got stabbed to death by Turner's teenage daughter when Stompanato was attacking Turner. Wikipedia reports that he did pull a gun but was swiftly disarmed, so it must be true.

Sean Connery played Bond a few times before David Niven did. Dr No came out in '62, Casino Royale in '66 or '67.

He was Bond. He just was. Others made a decent job of it but he was the man.

I only watched one. Wasn't keen if I'm honest. I don't have an engineering background so if it looks a bit shonky to me, actual engineers are probably hiding behind the sofa.

It could be a US spec Caddy with Jetta GLi wheeltrims but I'd be willing to bet ten bob that it isn't.
