Tempting. I do need a tat hauler... Any questions please do fire away, even if you want to come over and have a poke. I've replaced the van with a crew cab pick up. Mainly because I need 5 seats and I wanted something with a nice bit of grunt to tow a fishing boat and trailers laiden with cars I don't need but must own. However, going from the Astra to the L200 the fuel bill is crippling me and making me miss the Astra in a strange way.

Thanks very much mr prime, it's something totally new to me and I was unaware of this. I have to be honest, part worn tyres are something I've never had much to do with, but when the cost of some decent tyres is half what I paid for the truck it got me thinking.
Will give the sidewalls a thorough check.
Thanks

I've come across some of their bits a few times. I think they even advertise in the Porsche magazine, quite a large advert if I remember rightly, maybe even a whole page. Always look at the photos to try and spot something interesting.

Thank you all very much for the replies chaps.
Sorry, I always forget something vital.
The truck is a classic L200. From my brief Google session they will fit inside the restraints of the l200 arches, my concern was more if they would suitably fit on the rim.
I currently have BF mud terrains on the rear and to be honest I would be quite happy with that all round. They do break traction quite often, but to be fair it is very predictable, and I may (read that as certainly) drive the truck at times in a way that may result in a bit of sideways action. Just because it makes me grin.
Other than larking about in the mud, The truck is only really used for driving to work, only a few miles with the most of 40mph. Runs to the dump and part collecting.

Hello RR.
I need some help please.
I recently bought a new truck and some plum has put a right shoddy set of tyres on the thing. Road tyres up front, odd sized mud tyres in the rear, its all over the shop!
I have never had to replace tyres on a truck like this and I am pretty stumped as to what I actually need. Car tyres no problem, I understand that perfectly fine. The only tyre that actually seems like it should be there is a 235/75 R15.
I really want some mud tyres, I could do with them for a few byways and I would be able to do more at my local pay and play sites. Which would be nice. Problem is, they're pretty pricey. So, as I do with most things I got searching and have found a set of part used mud tyres, still with a tonne of tread on them for a very fair price. Problem is I don't know if they will fit and the sizing is in a fashion I am unfamiliar with.
So the tyre I have on there that seems right is a 235/75. The tyres I am looking at are 31"x10.5. Would these fit?
My current tyres are 235 and 10.5 seems to equate to 265, if I round it down for the simplicity of things for the minute.
Would the 31x10.5 fit my wheels? I know I haven't listed the size of my current wheels, that's because I don't know what they are!
Any help would be excellent.

I use, and swear by google maps. It has live updates so will reroute if any accidents have occurred and instantly take you an alternative way. Sometimes in a right odd fashion but this weekend alone it saved me 2 hours.
It seems to work with no signal at times as well.
When I am abroad I use a Garmin. We have probably had it nearly six years now, I have used it to drive across Europe multiple times and it even survived being hit by a lorry. Me and that satnav have been through some adventures!
However if it's apps, I use google maps.

Hello retro rides. Once again I have some mini parts that I need to part ways with. Today it is my engine conversion. This came together a few years ago, It is an engine that I have had some experience with, they perform incredibly well and are super affordable, readily available and I thought, why not? This conversion package here contains everything you need to run a small block ford engine in a classic mini. If you are unfamiliar with these conversions I will try and sum it up as quickly and effectively as possible. I am sure many of you have heard of Z-cars, Honda conversions, Rover K-Series conversions, and the C20XE redtop swaps, but the Vauxhall smallblock seem to be a little less renowned. The do work, they work very well and they have some huge advantages. They are far more affordable than Honda conversions, parts are in every scrapyard up and down the country. Gearbox choices are quite broad. The engine actually fits in the engine bay very well unlike the Honda or rover swaps. There are chaps making 150hp off of the smallblock 1.6 on bike carbs, a pretty impressive result I think. So my conversion. My conversion consists of a Vauxhall front subframe, single bolt, but will fit earlier models with the twin bolt front subframe. This subframe has been made to work with land rover engine mounts which are great because they re affordable and easily available. This subframe will accept any small block Vauxhall engine. These conversions are quite simple. They are achievable with a basic understanding and a basic tool set, like the mini this conversion is very simple. This engine will fit in a standard mini front end, no bulkhead modifications, no cubman front, no bonnet bulges. I think this would be awesome in a base model, original looking mini. Whats included in the sale. Modified Vauxhall Mini front subframe. E16SE Vauxall engine F13 gearbox E16SE engine loom All ancillaries Vauxhall Driveshafts Mini driveshafts Brand new Heavy duty rose jointed Lower arms (these cost £120 alone) Rose jointed heavy duty tie rods Brand new 225 HP inline fuel pump Included in the sale is everything you need to install and start this engine, I have had it running, all be it briefly, and it seems to run well. The drive shafts need to be made, but I would be able to offer this service at cost. This engine should make around 100bhp, to get similar power from an A-series engine would cost thousands. The joys of this engine is it also has a 5 speed box, they are also easily and cheaply modified. Price wise I want £500. I can ship at £50 on a pallet to anywhere in mainland uk. If paypal payment is made I will have to insist that fee's are covered by the buyer. Cash on collection is preferred from ME8 area of Kent, I would be able to offer delivery within a few miles at costs of fuel.

Hello retro rides. For sale here I have a set of 10" GB004 Minilite wheels for a classic mini. The wheels themselves could probably do with a simple home refurb to brighten them up a bit as the paint it poor but structurally the wheels are top. All are true, all round with no eggs, no wobbles or cracks, no dings or dinks, no areas of damage. The wheels are fitted with worn, but still totally road legal and well within their limits, Advan A008 tyres which are an excellent all weather tyre. They are 10x5J and as you will see from the photo below fit very well with no arches or smaller "special" arches as fitted to most later 80's minis. This sale is for a set of 5 wheels, not just 4, so you can have a matching spare. Price wise I am going to ask £150. If you want them posted I will have to add these costs onto the asking price and I will have to ask that paypal payments are made with the fee's covered by the buyer. Collection is from Gillingham Kent.

Hello retro rides. I bought this last year and have been doing a fair bit of work on it since then, However, I also have a 1967 cooper that needs work and i've been putting it off for some time now and all the while I am ploughing time and money into this my cooper is falling further and further into a state of disrepair. So after a few weeks of thought I have decided that the best option is to sell this mini to give me the time I need for my Cooper. 1980 Rolling Mini Shell. The mini is a 1980 City E, I have the numberplates, chassis tags and the V5. This shell still has the Chassis number stamped in the return of the scuttle which obviously matches that on the V5, a rare thing these days, sadly. The mini is rust free, all of the welding has been done, there is only one small hole which will be repaired prior to the cars sale. The boot floor is solid, as are the floors, scuttle is solid, roof is sound and straight with no sunroof, Quarter panels are good, door steps are good, go at this with a screwdriver or magnet as long as you want, you wont poke the screwdriver through and your magnet wont fall off! Don't get me wrong this shell is by no means mint and a potential show stopper but it is solid and you will not have any issues with rust. Areas have been patched, in some areas they are some what crude but they do the job. The mini will come with a 2 piece flip front, not mint, has previously been damaged but does the job for the time being. The doors are complete and the outer skins seem good, the inner frames have had repairs but I have seen far worse. The boot lid once again seems good. The rear arches are also tubbed. The shell has a multipoint weld in 38mm CDS cage complete with door bars, harness bar, seat mounts and it has had the steering column integrated into the cage, all gusseted and seems to be in top order, I am not sure what competitive certifications this cage complies to, all I wanted to use the car for was novice track days, the ring and some fast road. This was fitted by a certified company, not a chap in a shed with some scaffold bars. The car will come rolling with very good front and rear subframes. The car has a brand new set of heavy duty lower arms and front tie rods. It will come with disc hubs, new groved and drilled 8.4" discs and a set of newly refurbished brake calipers. The radius arms are newly refurbished with good bearings and does not suffer with that horrible crab/camber issue from collapsed or worn bearings and pins. Both subframes are in excellent condition and worth a few bob on their own. The car has a full carbon fibre curley dashboard and centre console, it has been used, it does show signs of use but when new these did command nearly £500. The steering column is fitted with a boss for a Quick Relese steering wheel boss that is included in the sale. The shell comes complete with glass, brand new window seals, petrol tank (modified so that the filler is in the boot cavity rather than poking out through the body) It also comes with a huge box of spares, pedal box, wiper set up, spare 998cc engine block and components, the car will also come with a tonne of parts both new and used, headlights, brake cylinders, lock sets and many other parts. The car will come rolling on a set of steel 12" wheels. Here are a few photos. Small hole will be repaired prior to sale. All in all, in my opinion, this is an excellent canvas for a pretty cool car, all of the hard work has been done, the welding has been done, the cage is there, all the panels fit as they should, the subframs are sound, it just requires finishing off and pulling together. I am quite annoyed that I will not be doing it myself, as this really is in the final stages, but the more time I spend on this the longer it is going to take for me to get started on my other one, and its already taken far too long. I always find it hard to price minis as they have gone up and down so much over the last ten years. Based on what is currently on ebay for stupid money I have settled at. £1100. Come around with £1000 and that will be good with me. No less. I may be able to offer recovery at cost within 50miles with discussion. The car is currently in a storage unit, I will aim to have it recovered home next weekend and with this more photos will be posted and requests can be taken. If you have read this far well done, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

I had one like this a few years ago on a Honda, couldn't get it off.
I heated the end of the shaft up with a tig. Smacked a socked on the end and got an enormous stillson on the socket, put a 2 meter length of roll age bar on the end of that and got a buddy to jump up and down on the end of it.
Then it came off.
Just.

That's a point, can it not be done online with a V11 reminder? Hoping that the current owner has a V11 form kicking about somewhere?

You're not the only one. I love Rolls Royce and have done for years, perhaps its that childhood imagery of if you have one of them, you've clearly made it big time. When you're 10 years old this is perfect logic. I think that has stuck with me ever since and they've got a permanent place on the "one day I will own" list.
Me and my uncle was talking (over lobster dinner funnily enough) and I mentioned that years ago Rollers came with a Rolls Royce Lobster pick in the lunch hamper in the trunk. He, being a classic car fanatic himself said that they didn't quite float his boat, I naturally assumed everyone loved them, but obviously I am wrong.
I have often looked, and I was actually looking this morning at an apparent barn find that even with the poor interior and damaged paint looked pretty cool and I could see myself paying the £3995 that it was advertised for.
I remember the day I realised they were semi-affordable. I had won some motorbike parts on ebay and when I collected them the chaps neighbour was cutting one up with a grinder. My face must have said it all and we started chatting and he said he broke them weekly for parts as they were in quite high demand. The chap only lived a few towns over on a major route and he still has them on his drive now and again all these years on (must be nearly 6 years now).
I do remember an article on top gear years ago, it may have been when James May started and he had one, obviously he was saying its not all its cracked up to be and that although affordable to buy, running, maintaining and all other costs associated to them are eye wateringly expensive.
I still want one.

Hello chaps.
I am after some tyres for my L200.
I am in need of some mud tyres in the flavour of 33" or equivalent upwards, I would love some 35" but I know that's not happening!
My wheels are 15R and I currently have some 10.5" on there at the minute but I will consider any size tyre at all provided they're priced well.
I would be interested in wheels and tyres of they're 6 x 139 so J fitment and some later land rovers?
I am after a mud style tyre, aggressive tread and of course I will need them to comply with the current road regulations.
If you have anything which may fit the bill please PM me.
cheers.

Thanks for the confirmation! I look through ebay every now and again with some forums and they seem to list as "needs minimal welding" as a welder by trade, I wouldn't touch them with a very long stick and they seem to be up at something crazy like £1500.
Thanks for your input very much!

No you are very correct MrDave!
The mini will come as a rolling shell with a period correct A-series subframe, so you could get a 998,1275 or what ever else you wanted and drop it straight in there, The joys with the Vauxhall conversion is that it has no detrimental effect on the mini shell.
Thanks for the reply.

Hello retro rides. You guys usually seem to be quite in touch with these kinds of things, and although I know there are a lot of mini based sites out there I have found their valuations to be quite off the mark so I am here instead. I have invested quite a bit of time and effort into the car but it is incomplete and is not a complete project, because of such I have broken the car down into 3 major components. I have done this because as a seller I want to bring in as much money as possible whilst still keeping my parts priced fairly and I realise that my engine choice may not be to everyones taste, so I have listed below the items as the rolling shell, Engine conversion package, and the wheels. 1980 Rolling Mini Shell. The mini Is a 1980 Mayfair, or some other base model, nothing fantastic, amazing or sought after. I do have plates, I do have the tags and I do have a full V5. The mini is rust free, all of the welding has been done, there is only one small hole which will be repaired prior to the cars sale. The boot floor is excellent, the floors are top, scuttle is solid, roof is sound and straight with no sunroof, Quarter panels are good, door steps are good, go at this with a screwdriver or magnet as long as you want, you wont poke the screwdriver through and your magnet wont fall off! The shell has a multipoint weld in 38mm CDS cage complete with door bars, harness bar, seat mounts and it has had the stering column intergrated into the cage, all gusseted and seems to be in top order, I am not sure what competitive certifications this cage complies to, all I wanted to use the car for was novice track days, the ring and some fast road. This was fitted by a certified company, not a chap in a shed with some scaffold bars. The car will come rolling with very good front and rear subframes. The car has a brand new set of adjustable hilo's fitted front and rear and will come with a set of heavy duty lower arms and front tie rods. It will come with disc hubs, new groved and drilled 8.4" discs and a set of newly refurbished brake calipers. The radius arms are newly refurbished with good bearings. The car has a full carbon fibre curley dashboard and centre console, it has probably seen better days but did command nearly £500 when new. I am thinking of asking £1000 for this lot, can any one offer any opinion on this? I have come to this conclusion based on the fact that the last shell I sold was for £750, it required extensive welding in the rear around the heel board and floors and it also needed paint. This one is in a condition well enough for anyone interested enough to see that nothing is hidden, it is as it is and it has a lot of decent parts fitted, sound subframes, decent parts fitted and what not. So £1000, seem a fair price to ask? Advertised at £1100, wanting £1000? 1.6 8V Vauxhall engine conversionThis engine conversion was put together for the above shell, I have had experience with the engines in the past and they just seem excellent. The sale will comprise of. E16SE engine All Ancillaries, starter, alternator, dizzy leads and so on. Engine loom, ECU, MAF and so on Front subframe converted to accept the Small Block Engine series F13 box Vauxhall Shafts Mini Shafts Rose jointed Tie Rods Rose Jointed heavy duty bottom arms (brand new and £120 new) This subframe has been conversted to take any small block Vauxhall engine, I have included in the sale the E16SE which I think is what came in the Vauxhall GSI Nova, but I could be wrong. It will take any small block vaxhall engine, 1.6 16v, 1.8 16V provided its an early astra or Vectra one. There has been chaps who have made 150 bhp out of the 16v 1.6. This engine conversion will fit under a standard mini front end and you will not need to modify the bulkhead at all. Included in the sale is driveshafts. both Vauxhall and mini, I have not made the conversion shafts yet but this is something I would be able to assist with at cost. Far cheaper than anywhere else. As a complete conversion I think I would like to see £450, reason being is at any less than this it would not be worth me selling, I would keep it and use it in something else. £450 seem fair? Lastly are wheels, but I am pretty sure on their value. Can anyone offer some advice on these prices? Minis seem to be so up and down at the minute, I cant keep up with them.
