A mate of mine is in the process of thinning out his fleet and has a tax exempt twin carb Rover 2000 for sale. This is what he had to say about it. If you're interested let me know and I'll put you on to him. "My wife has talked me in to changing the garden, so my small fleet has to be thinned out. My Rover p6 is the 1st car to go. The Rover is a 1972 so free tax, the bodywork is fair there is no welding I can see but she does need some work. The engine runs well, she has had a new coil, new cap and leads, new water pump, some new brake pipes. The car needs the following, two head lights (sealed beam units), could do with some seats, there are no brakes because of a fault with the master cylinder (brakes work but stick on), clutch is starting to slip, the pass side could do with a coat of lacquer and it needs a bonnet catch, the drivers door needs the fake woodwork door top. The tyres are all good. Having said all that the car really is worth doing. I am looking for about £300 for her." Car is in north Norfolk.

I have to say I'm tempted. I could bring the Cadillac, at least then Utterpiffle wouldn't have the worst-handling car on the track. Will discuss tonight, if I make it. Lol, surely you must have a more suitable car amongst your vast wheeled empire? ;D True. I could come in this. Its 57mph top speed might be a bit of a handicap down the straights, but I reckon it'd be better through the corners than the Cadillac.

Mr Piffle, is it just me or is that 323 even lower now than when last I saw it?

May or may not be there tonight - I've got a "networking event" (read "free curse word-up") after work today so depending on how drunk I get I might not be able to make it.

It has a full service history, somewhere. I've recently moved house and haven't yet found which box I put the service booklet in. I'll take more pics over the weekend and email them to you.

Nope, it's black cloth, but it does have the Alfa-logo-embossed seats.

Any interest in this? 2-litre twin spark manual, 11 months' MoT, no tax, 114K miles, in good nick apart from a couple of dings in bonnet and a bit of a scrape on nsr arch, paint needs a T-cut on a couple of panels on the offside (think that bit was parked in the sun) but not too bad as you can see from the pic, otherwise all good apart from a small vertical crack in the bottom of the screen which may or may not need sorting for its next MoT depending on how fussy the tester is. All electrics work including the ICS computer/stereo unit. Drives very well, cambelt done about 8,000 miles ago. Clutch was replaced fairly recently too, pedal feels a bit heavy compared to my Saab but obviously works fine. Only selling as bought another 166 with the 3-litre V6 and I really don't need two. Car's in Norwich, and I'm after £850 or thereabouts.

Let's hope it passes then - it'd be nice to see it up and running. My Sud is not looking hopeful for tomorrow - it cooked its coil yesterday and I haven't had time to obtain a replacement. Still, I'm sure I can find something else to trundle down in.

OK, trying once again with this one as it really does need to go soon. It's taxed and tested till end of July, runs & drives fine - it's only done 120K kilometres (75K miles). Has air suspension, CD changer and all the gadgets one would expect from a Celsior. Only things that don't work are the usual aircon display and occasionally the massage function for the rear seats. Oh, and the stereo and cruise control are JDM spec which means the former only goes up to 90 MHz on the FM dial and the latter only works up to about 75mph. Don't think the rear foglight is working at the moment either, but that's probably just a bulb out - I've never bothered to replace it as I've never driven the car in fog. It's a very, very tidy car for its age. Here's a couple of pictures: Yes, I know it's badged up as a Lexus at the moment, but the original Toyota grille and wheel badges are in the boot. Oh, and the marks on the front of the car in the picture are road muck, not stone chips. I should really take some more pictures now the car's been washed. This has to be worth £500, surely? A year ago it would have made double that...

I spotted this a couple of months back whilst walking from Brentwood station to collect the Toyota Celsior I'd just bought. From what I could see of it in the gathering darkness it looked pretty sound.

You're going to have to take that Estelle off your avatar now mate. She's just driven home 180 miles non-stop without missing a beat.

It's bIoody ridiculous. I had my Celsior on eBay all week - not as much tax as yours but a bit more test and still on air suspension - starting at £500 and didn't get a single sniff. What's going on with these things at the moment? Surely it can't just be the price of fuel that's killing the values? Looks like I'm lumbered with the thing now - there's no way I'm going to sell it for £350, that's knackered Mondeo money.

Oops, didn't spot this thread till now. That R9 looks an extremely tasty bit of kit. Do you knwo how many horses it's putting out after all those mods? Here's mine: It's very much at the "project" stage at the moment. It's all up and running but it needs a bloody good service before I can really start using it regularly, let alone start modifying it. It's been slightly tweaked and seems to be putting out around 135-140 brake when it's in a good mood, but it's an awkward child born out of wedlock to start when it's been stood for a while - I think the plugs are on their way out, but at 80 quid for the set I'm not going to replace them until I absolutely have to. Otherwise it's pretty much standard, and surprisingly for an old Renault everything seems to work - even the trip computer.

Funny, I was just thinking the other day about getting a 360GLT and dropping a 940 Turbo engine in it - I wasn't going to go as far as you though, I was thinking more in the order of 180-200bhp.
Like the 100E too - I just recently sold a 100E Prefect. Nice car to drive but it had the standard sidevalve engine and 3-speed box so was dog slow.

Was going toask about your opinion on the MV, I like them a lot, though recently a bunch went for pretty silly money, except for the one in Hampshire over the weekend, which I missed as I was busy with other stuff, and it only made around £260-ish. They do seem to be making rather daft money at the moment. They're a good little truck though - not the most sophisticated or refined vehicle in the world but they're pleasant enough to drive, go reasonably well and are surprisingly good on juice (I was getting around 35mpg out of mine). 4 wheel drive is a fairly simple setup but works OK - came in useful when I got my Volvo estate stuck in the mud. The only drawback I found was that the bed was a little on the short side. I thought at the time that the steering was heavy too, but now I've experienced the Fourtrak everything else seems featherlight in comparison...

Kerwality, I have only ever seen one of these before and that was in my very early 90s massive World Cars Yearbook. I thought I would never see one. Where the hell was it?? Correct me if I'm wrong but did the yanks also build a version badged as something else? Completely hideous and therefore WINNER!! Yes, the Yanks did build a version - I think they called it a Laforza, and it was powered by a Ford 302 V8, with or without supercharger. They tried to relaunch it earlier this decade, but with an asking price of £130,000 there weren't many takers. Mine was on eBay, listed under "Other Vehicles". I paid £128.56 for it and drove it 120 miles home from Nottinghamshire. It's a beast.

Hello and welcome The Subaru MV got nicked?? Looks like an excellent example, got one myself in same colour, what worries me is I'm also in Norwich... I'm out and about in east anglia alot and know a few traveller folk, ill keep my eyes and ears open. Cheers. I reckon it's probably been weighed in by now though. The old bill seemed quite confident it'd turn up, but it's been over a month and not a peep, so I've more or less given it up for lost now. If you do happen across it though that'd be brilliant - it was a great little truck.

Whats the story with the Jetta? Well I bought it from Sheffield in February 2005. I used it as a runaround until the MoT ran out, then I stood it up. A couple of months ago I put it up on the ramps to have a poke around and see what it'd need for a ticket, and unfortunately the front of the offside sill had rusted quite badly where it meets the inner arch and floorpan, so I stuck it on eBay the next time there was a free listing day to see if anyone fancied taking it on. Someone over Birmingham way was the high bidder, but after two weeks I still haven't had any response to emails, and they don't answer the phone when I try to call them, so it's stuck here for now. It was a great little car - one old biddy for most of its life, and I think it's only done about 77K. I'll probably stand it up now until I get around to doing it - my original plan was to drop in a 1781cc carb engine from a Mk2 Golf to give it a bit more grunt. I had a Mk1 Passat estate with the 1781cc engine and autobox and it flew, so I'm expecting the same combination in the Jetta bodyshell to surprise a few boy racers. It'll be a while before it gets done though as there's a few cars in front of it in the queue for my attention...
