It just needed a little bit of TLC to be honest, mind you with my big sausage fingers i was fitting new leads and cap etc and snapped the sodding king lead as i was putting it on. New one coming tomorrow hopefully.
Hard to find any 16v bumpers in this colour tbh.

I'm from Marske, last time i went down Redcar highstreet half the place was empty! Loving the green one by the way, my favourite drives round that way would probably be the road from Redcar to Guisborough (over Dunsdale) and the road between the moors and Guisborough, up the back of Claphow. And of course the weekly jaunt to Whitby, avoiding bikers!

There was one of these round the corner from me for years - totally identical to yours, maybe a little lower and with a duel exit exhaust, up until about last christmas it seems to have been either garaged up or replaced by a new mini. The guy has had it for years too, however it always seemed to be in between being laid up for a six month period. I did wonder if you had bought it as you were in Glasgow and so local. I'm pretty sure you are thinking of the one in this pic parked beside mine: West of Scotland VW club night by route9autos.co.uk, on Flickr It was an early model and the owner was in the navy so may explain the periods of lay up. Dave Thats the one, not sure if he has it anymore tbh. Not seen it in a long time.

You know what I'm getting more and more inclined to go buy one of these - the only downside being the fact i could do with the rear seats every now and again. I think I'm going to time the amount my backs are used over the coming months so the other half cant whine as much.
Stupid question, but do they feel nippy? I'm not clued up on what the power output is, but for a 1.8 i was a bit dubious it would.

Its not often you see someone who has bought from KGF for actual use, i get the impression they all go into collections. How was dealing with them? Was it as mint as you expected? don't remember seeing the skylight on the advert is all, i would have thought with their attention to detail they would have done what you did above.

Think I'm going to leave the power cap out tbh after reading up online. Its not going to be the most powerful setup, and it seems that the power cap actually supplies the headlights and systems as opposed to the amp when the alternator cant keep up.
Why do i need a fuse close to the amp as well as the battery? The amp has a built in fuse, and there is a beast of an inline fuse at the battery end of the wiring (ill be installing it today).
Good point on the ground wire through, thanks.

Not the most awe inspiring motor on here, but i fancied one a few years back as a runabout, and this came up local to me for the princely sum of £150 with some front end damage and a knackered clutch. Went to view the car and it was immediately obvious it needed two wings, a headlight and indicator, and the problem with the clutch was that the young owner had fitted a new clutch cable and not adjusted it. The clutch biting point was on the floor and had even been noted on the last test, so it had been this way since last June. Mad how nobody thought of just tightening the adjuster on the end. It had a blow on a (new) exhaust join and was full of crappy dents and rust spots. Paint was shocking and the interior was totally wet and minging, and covered up with shagpile seat covers. I removed all the seats and their covers, stripped them down one by one and put them through the washer. The wet interior was down to the sunroof drains being blocked, easily sorted. I fitted two wings, headlight, two indicators and refitted, fillered and repainted the front lower valance. I gave it a mop and some G3, and last night fitted some 60mm drop springs and some bilstein shocks, and it is as below now. Cost wise its been pennies, just some graft. Ive given it a service, the intention would be to put some E30 BBSs or some larger steels on it and sort the audio out. From then on i guess id like to fit colour coded handles and see if i can get some 16v bumpers in the right colour.

ok, so i bought a car last year with a load of audio in the boot. It consists of: Pioneer 1000w TS-W306DVC 12" Sub, 1000w max 400w nominal. www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/archive/TS-W306DVC/page.htmlAmerican Pro Bass Machine Amp 400w, 2ch bridgeable, www.americanproaudio.com/vs-14xx.htmlAmerican Pro Power Cap "Poweramper" 1.0 farad I wouldnt mind giving the install a go, however: a) what do i do with the power cap and do i need it? b) is the amp sufficent to run the sub well? thanks.

replied to your post mate, didnt see you had too. 13" steels that are on it at the moment are about knackered, ive tried cleaning one up and satin-black rattle can job it but it looks naff.
if i can find funds might have those baby g60s from above
