Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but I thought folk here would enjoy it...
Please excuse the poor donut in the second video with some ropey old BMW. He's quite old and the whole ''technology'' thing is probably a bit beyond him and his chubby fingers. Now he say's the original audio didn't sound anywhere near as bad but kudos to Johnny for trying to make the most of it.
The Alfa is lovely and I'd quite like to see it and the 02 together on some twisty somewhere.

Well the 02 is back home and actually sat on the driveway this morning. In fact, I even drove it down to Penzance yesterday in an effort to try and iron out any teething troubles. I think that just about the only parts of this car that didn't need replacing were the brakes, so no prizes for guessing the first issue to raise its head? Yes, the nearside brake calliper is sticking intermittently. Hopefully James @jfi Classics has one he can donate to the cause though so the solution should be pretty simple. The M44 and the ITB's sound epic although I must admit they're a little loud. That said, on longer journeys you can get up to speed and sit there with just a whiff of throttle and it's much quieter as a result. The plan for today (as it's actually dry and kind of sunny) is to clean off 18 months of workshop grime and pretty things up a bit. I also need to make a list of small parts I need, like a new boot lock and the left side stalk for high and low headlight beam. If anyone is breaking an 02 please let me know? My 02 has been included in the Projects of the People from Johnny on the Late Brake Show. Unfortunately the audio is bloody awful but Johnny did his best to make up for it.

My first grandchild is due in July. Is it too soon to start looking for their first BMW?

Looks a lovely base. Those steel rims would look great on my 02.

Lovely bit of brown you have there sir. I had an 1850 in the exact same shade that I bought after seeing a 'spares or repairs' ad on a postcard in Safeways. I needed a replacement engine for my TR7 but when I got to see the 1850 it was just lovely. I loved the dash and the overdrive box so ran it as a daily for a couple of months. I'm ashamed to say I then used it to get my TR7 going again. Good to see yours is getting the love it deserves.

I love these things. I looked after the Mazda press fleet in the late 80's / early 90's and always enjoys ragging these around. Out in Staplehurst, Kent there are lots of mini humped back bridges over streams and these trucks would leap like you wouldn't believe! I was always impressed at how quick the petrol ones were too. The only bum clenching moments were how grabby the brakes were when combined with zero weight over the rear. Yours looks great with the crew cab and being silver. I've bookmarked this to see how you go with it. You're making great progress so far!

Good to see you're still using / loving the Coupe. I have such fond memories of the tornado red ones I owned as a 20 something. They sounded so good and were just a lot of fun to drive. Admittedly there was a lot of body roll but nowadays I guess that's easily sorted? Back then I couldn't even find lowering springs.

I must admit, it was their rev happy nature that made it the right choice as an alternative to an S14 for me. Added to which, even an s14 needing a refresh will cost £8k plus nowadays. I remember buying whole E30 M3's for that amount or less! I think 6 was the cheapest I'd bought. I've just spotted a rear cage for sale but I just don't have the funds right now sadly. It's a shame as it's the factory style one and would finish my interior just nicely.

You can stroke an M44 out to a 2.1 using a diesel crank but it's not something I'm looking at doing. I may well have the head flowed and some lumpy cams though, in an effort to get over the 200 figure. BDS have made 230 with there build. There race engine was 270 I believe.

Well it's nearly ready to start using the 02! The only issue to sort first is the throttle pedal return, which isn't returning as I'd like unless I have an old bungee strap lending a hand and that's not quite the look I'm after. Fortunately W & N in Germany sell the little plastic bushes that the pedal box uses so I ordered replacements. Fingers crossed they sort the issue or else I'll just have to go with the temporary fix for now. I plan to do something with the pedal assembly eventually anyway. I've seen some lovely pedals in outlaw style 911's and as the 02 shares the same floor hinged type I'm thinking I could do the same. Well that's the plan anyway.
The dash mounted gauge pod still isn't available it seems and I don't want to use a different type. I've got the old auxiliary gauges in the centre console so they'll have to suffice for now. I really like the new steering wheel and I think it suits the car. It cost peanuts compared to a period Petri or Nardi wheel too!
One thing I have been thinking about is a change of colour for the interior to a red of some shade. Maybe a wine red or burgundy? I thought it would be a nice contrast with the silver of the bodywork. Mind you, that would still be a way off yet. I still want to fit the wide arches someday too.

I'd love these. They'd be perfect for #bmw16v02 - especially once I wide arch it.
If they're still available next month I'll see what I can pull together.

Good to see your s14 all ready and refreshed. I'd have loved one myself but they're just too expensive for me nowadays. Such a great engine though and the reason I wanted a sixteen valve twin cam when the M10 blew!
My car is near enough finished now and ready to start using. I'm still saving to pay the final bill though and the pandemic has hit me financially. Hopefully it won't be too much longer though.

Just spent an enjoyable half hour reading through this thread. Thanks for taking the time to upload it. As I have a '72 BMW 1602 I guess these for the competition in motorsport of the day? I used to have a Simca van back in the late 80's and remember the rear turrets were a bit of a rust trap / problem. It was a good little van though and perfect for my window cleaning round. I seem to recall it was a princely sum of £120 and they were rare even then. I love the arches and Revolutions. What are your plans for the interior? Also what sort of power and weight are you expecting? It'd be good to see this at RR Gathering.

I'm surprised this hasn't been snapped up to be honest. If I had the cash it'd be sitting on my drive. There are similar cars at over £20k on Car and Classic.

Well the underneath is now protected from the cow pats and crud washed across the Cornish roads when it rains. I've never been one for garaging cars and not using them anyway, but I'd like to think it'll be a good few years before the 02 sees the welders torch. LHD 02's have floor hinged pedals (like early 911's) and now that I don't have carbs with their return springs, the pedal needs to work perfectly. On checking I could see the nylon bushing were way past their best (why am I not surprised given just how knackered every other mechanical component has been?) so I have ordered replacements from Germany. As it stands there's a bungy strap running back from the pedal but that's not quite the look I'm after. The disc brake rear will have to wait till next year. There's no urgency as the drums actually work pretty well, but discs just look nicer and I'm a tart. Also, JFi Classics do a very nice exhaust manifold for M44 swapped 02's and there's definitely one of those on the list for future upgrades.

Really nice looking car and I really like the colour choice.
I'm surprised someone hasn't snapped it up given the way values are going. I've posted a few links to this ad on social media Jim - hope that's ok?

Many thanks for the replies guys.
Well it seems ARM, who have done my engine swap for me, took it upon themselves to do the underseal too. I dropped in on them yesterday and they'd masked and prepped everything in readiness. It was good to give the floor pan and sills a thorough check and I found just one 50p sized soft patch of corrosion. I plan to chop that out prior to undersealing obviously.
I'll post some pics for reference.
