Well I've been lurking for a right while now so I suppose its time I made a thread. I bought this TE20 off Ebay a back around November or so for the princely sum of £621 (With a Ferguson Fingerbar mower). I rolled it off the tow truck, got her going, drove about for a few hours and then drove her into the shed and started stripping her down. The tractor was an Anglesey tractor all her life. Registered EY 9997 in November 1951 to a Mr. Thomas. I bought her off the second owner (of 2/3 years) back in November. 1. One of the photos off the Ebay add. 2. Another photo from the Ebay add. 3. The tractor landing in the yard many weeks after I won the auction. Not as good looking as she was in the auction photos but not in too bad off shape. 4. Got her going after awhile. Drove her about 2 miles about the place with a very sticky clutch pedal. Not fun.

5. The strip down begins. Bonnet off without much bother. Mudguard skins (which are new) came off no bother. Brake drums came off suprisingly easy after the 2 retaining screws were loosened. 6. Seat off no bother. Radiator off, needs to be flushed out and a bit of welding on the fan shroud. Exhaust and studs all came out easy. 7. Dashboard off which was abit of a pain. Rusty screws which have been in there since 1951. Footrests off. Wishbone and steering arms off. 8. Grinding, sandblasting and wire burshing my way through the rust and paint. 9. Getting there.... 10. Bare bones of the tractor now nearly fully sanded and given the first coat of primer. Quite a few of the small parts also sanded and primed. Thats all for now,More soon.

That looks to have been a bargain especially with the finger mower! How are the hydrolics? Do they hold in position with weight on them as it going to be a lot easier to sort them out now while its mainly apart. For example if you lower the finger mower do you have to keep juggling the lever to keep a constant height? If you haven't used a finger mower before you need to go steady with it - not like a modern mower at all, once you've gone through all the segments with a file though you can get a lovely cut that you just wouldn't get from a modern topper

Grizz,More than enough reasons there,Get one bought! Also, keep it up with the treads, love em. The one on the teardrop trailer and the tip finds are great. dodgerover, The hydraulics are working but when the tractor was going they were rusted stiff. You needed 2 heavy men jumping on the lift arms to get them down. I've got it all freed off now so I will have to wait till she's back together to see holds in position. I haven't used the finger bar mower yet. My dad and uncle would have used one years ago so It will be no bother putting it going. I was told the mower was working fine. It is in very good shape and surprisingly rust free. Todays work.. 11. PTO shaft back in. New seal as the old one was leaking. Sanded and primed most of the bottom of the tractor. Nearly there..Nearly.

My friend's parents had their old t20 rusting slowly in the back of their barn when I visited their farm to see my mate, numerous times in the mid to late 1980's. I always thought it was a cool looking beast. Suddenly realised one day it was no longer there and when I asked of its fate, I found they had sold it to the local policeman in my parents village (about 5 miles away!). Small world! Anyway, he got it up and running no bother; they seem bomb proof. Looking forward to seeing yours coming together.

I would really like to own a classic tractor. Lots of them available in and around Marlborough.
Excellent project - keep us updated.

Remember unless its had a conversion that PTO shaft is a smaller diameter to modern stuff, you will need a sleeve if you want to use a larger one. Remember to change to rear diff/ hydrolic oil ours have always looked like marg when they came in, super universal tractor oil isn't really suitable, they were designed to run straight weights of oil - it works better and they are quieter

Oh man, that's superb!
Chap who lives by me has restored one, he works in the centre of Bromsgrove (about two miles away) and has been known to drive it to work wearing a suit on sunny Summer days.
One of the only things I've never driven in all these years. Need to get that one crossed off my Bucket List one of these days.
Bookmarked, good luck with the resto. ;D

I have the PTO shaft increaser. You need it for the type of mower that came with it. Slowly buying bits and pieces for the tactor (2 PTO covers, both the wrong size -.-). Not much to update on, anything that I have done recently has just been sanding and priming small parts. 12. The T20 moved home earlier today. Simply put the back wheels back on, put a chain around the fulcrum pin (Front axle pivot) and lift the front of it up with the matbro. 13. View from the back. Not much to do here before primer and topcoat goes on (Wheels being done separately).

1000 views,Thanks everyone!
Progress has been slow over the past 3 weeks but hopefully I will get something done this week. Pile of parts recently sanded and waiting to be primed once the weather picks up a little bit.
Recent ebay purchases include... Brand new wiring loom. Lift arm rivited on linch pin set. Ignition switch. A Lucas LD109 sidelight (planning long term to put a cyclops lighting kit on this tractor, the cyclops lighting kit is the 1 light in the center of the bonnet and 2 fold out side lights on the side of the bonnet). And a original Ferguson operators manual for the Ferguson TEA/C/D/E models.

14. Back wheels sent away to be sandblasted. Normally costs €30 a piece but I got them done for €20 a piece. Photographed when I was priming them. 15. Second footrest with rivets ground out. Had some heavy rust but thankfully has not rusted through. I don't think I'll go at it with the welder. 16. Taking the cowl off the radiator. 7 flat head screws in total. Amazingly all 7 came out without much fuss. 17. The cowl itself. Would need a ton of welding and patching. If I can't find another one I might try and repair it. Can't bear the thought of paying for a new one though.. A brand new thermostat housing bought on ebay for £11 in total. Normally they cost around £35-£40. Not so bad I think.
