Hi! Here's my car, a 1982 Cortina 1.6 Crusader! There's not much to tell really as I've not had to do anything to her really. All I've done so far is fit a 4-2-1 manifold, pressed plates, the spotlights, and a rev counter. Oh and I made a custom grille I quite like Here's some piccies. Hope you like And here's the grille I made Comment away! Or not..

Superb, my Dad had a silver 2ltr Crusader, so many people thought it was a Granada for some reason! I seem to remember wood trip at the top of the doors.

Cool car i've seen it on BSC, quite a few cortinas on here so you should feel at home. IMHO mk5's are the best (bt i'm biased, i've got three.)

Did the bonnet come from another car and you didn't fancy painting it to match or was it a deliberate decision to repaint it Matt black? For me the look you've started with the grille and spot lamps would be perfect if the bonnet was the same colour, but then I do prefer the original-with-subtle-tweaks look!
I had a dark blue 1.6 GL many years ago and loved it, if yours doesn't yet have a twin choke weber carb fitted then I strongly recommend getting one, you will be amazed at the difference in power!

agree on the bonnet, if that was a pointless scene mod i think it detracts from the car love the car as a whole though, grill looks great, love the "correct for period" XR style graphics in the rear window. i remember those for sale back in the day

I have a twin choke weber DGR fitted Lemme clear something up about the bonnet, I got it that way, I do have the original red bonnet as well but the red bonnet and also the bootlid had a bad paint job that just wouldn't harden. So it's gone all crinkly and strange. It's less noticeable on the bootlid but I just can't afford to get them repainted. Going to do it myself when I can find the space as I have everything here to do it. Here's a photo of my engine hole You can see this bonnet used to be Crystal Green.

Just a standard one to get it through an MOT. I think I'll be removing the centre silencer though to make it sound a little better.

So today while I figured out why my dash lights weren't working at all, I decided to take the time to upgrade them too. The idea is simple, replace the bulbs with LED tape, which is pre-resisted to work at 12v. The only thing that's different to fitting bulbs is you have to keen an eye on the polarity. Here's some pics of what I did: All I did was solder the wires to the LEDs to the Contacts in the bulb holders The difference between the LEDs and the standard bulb. Here's the difference in brightness when it's put together. The rev counter lit with LEDs and the Speedo still with bulbs (which are on!) Nice simple mod that looks nice I still need to get a photo when it's properly dark. But I've got my eyes on LEDing up the roof light and glovebox lights I hope you like
