As title states really! Just sold mine and that's where it's going, so if your thinking of getting one you'd better be quick as they will get thin on the ground soon

Mercedes W124s did however when they were sub £2k for something not full of rot ; a friend of mine's got nicked in Brighton quite some time ago. They got taken to be basically live their lives out as taxis over there.

Well right now they're welcome to mine, it's doing my head in with charging problems! Can just see it rattling around Timbuktu with my Dire Straits tapes still playing.

There's a big market for export at the min to eastern Europe and Africa.
I've sold three cars recently that have been exported to Poland and a fiat Stilo that went to Africa.
Apparently vans are fetching good money on export at the min especially smiley face transits.

The local Nigerians have been taking scrappers off me for years, anything tough, they allway pay more than the scrap yard BUT the do tend to fook you about, not on purpose they are just so frikken laid back they make bob marley look like he was on speed, at the Mo they like old merc vans, preferably full of household A/C units mainly lately they seem to be after 4X4s (J preferably) this year they have had a berlingo, a mazda E200 van and 2 vitaras off me (all knackerd customers cars) they wont touch BMWS or merc cars though, very picky these export types , their yard is allways stacked to the roof with old fridges and A/C units, they fill the vans ith them to save on import dutys appaerently, the local gov allways ask for a "bung" for what they can see so last month they had a minibus, they painted the windows black and filled it with fridges ready to go in the conainer. The local Eastern Euros simply buy a car and drive it home and leave it there fo the family to sell, they do love a merc or a BMW though, allways servicing them pre trip home (well bodging them for pence so they can make it there)

I wonder which country it was going to?
Sorry to sound annoyed but I hate it when people refer to Africa like it's a country!
Certain countries have love affairs with certain manufacturers. You'll see certain manufacturers vehicles 'dumped' in certain areas of the countries to be used as taxis. Eg. in Nigeria, loads of MK2 Golfs in Lagos, but loads of Audi 80's in the north = very weird!
"Sorry sir, you cannot buy that car as it is destined for another state" lol
Unfortunately no vehicle is exported for an easy retirement - they will be flogged!

I still miss mine. In fact I was looking at an absolute cracker of an estate at a local show the other day. I would probably still have mine if it hadn't been wrecked by would be joyriders.

Well right now they're welcome to mine, it's doing my head in with charging problems! Can just see it rattling around Timbuktu with my Dire Straits tapes still playing. I had weird charging problems with mine, turned out to be a damage solder joint in the instrument binicle, yes really!! Sometimes it wouldn't charge at all, just run till the battery was drained then cut out, second handle binicle fixed it!
