That really does look good, I'm hoping you get a good dose of warm weather so you can get it all finished off.

Thanks for the positive replies. Stuck at home itching to get on but I not in a position to drive at the moment, walking's bad enough. Had key hole surgery on my right knee Saturday but did manage to hobble out to my shed with my sticks when the other half went out and today I'm suffering. Saying that we have been out for a coffee this morning to get out of the house, well Rox thinks it was for a coffee for me it was to see what the chances are of being able to bend my knee enough ready to drive when she's back at work tomorrow, not looking that good, wish I had my old Merc. Keep thinking of tinting the original lights

I think the original lights are one of the key styling points of the B3. Though the little quad lights <sorry i do not know the correct name of them!> look good, I'm a rectangle light guy all the way on these! lovely shade of silver buddy

I thought two things on seeing the picture of your knee; 1) ow, that looks painful! and 2) you have a very furry living room. Hope you recover swiftly so we all get to see more Passat progress.

Suppose it dose look a bit furry lol We have cushions on the fire place hearth to protect our 2 year old daughter should she fall as she charges through the lounge. Knees more frustrating than painful. it aches then you jolt it and get shot of pain. had the op on Saturday and I'm bored of sitting around already.think today's been worse than yesterday

Been spending my time off work doing as much as I can and trying rest my knee at the same time. Saying thats it's pretty good know but I cant kneel on it yet which is a bit of a pain Basically most of the exterior apart from the front and rear screen is back together. Today I sorted some of the electrics and had a trial run fitting the Heckblend (rear tub), say trial run it was originally for a saloon and needed a bit of work to make it fit a wagon, still not sure it's going to be good enough

With some minor adjustment that should look fine, I'm guessing it's temporarily fitted here as it's not sitting even on the tailgate. It helps maintain the customised factory van illusion, so I hope you can make it work to your own satisfaction.

After much playing about I decided the only way this thing can work with a nice fit (fingers crossed) is to build something using the Heckleblend and the standard Passat estate number plate tub and that way I could use the original mounting points. Once the reflective part of the Heckleblend was cut out it was cut in four i126.photobucket.com/albums/p87/mocco7/heckleblend002.jpg[/IMG] Then cut the ends out of the standard tub but leaving the mounting points in tack I now was hoping I could fit the center of the Heckeblend in to the center of the standard tun to fill the end gaps but that was not to be so I filled the gaps using the bits I cut out This is how it looks now but once this all glued up proporly I will fit as much of the reflective part of the Heckleblende I can Also spent the afternoon wet flatting the dash ready for top stop and painting

Not much to up date except the Heckleblende is not going on the van I ended up cutting it in to 6 different parts to try and get it to fit in to the standard tub and once I had it was just not good enough as I could not get rid of the joins. The other deciding factor was this picture The hole van thing has been a learning curve for me and if I was do it again I would do certain parts of it different, I also never intended to take the van off the road for so long and do such an extensive job. The one thing I would have done different was the tailgate and more I look at that picture I feel less disappointed with the Heckleblende. At one point I was going to smooth the lower half of the tailgate of and that's sort of what I'm going to do now. As is I have whipped the tub off the daily and I'm going to modify that so its longer and delete the reversing and fog light units from the tailgate and fit the fog light for the MOT else where ( can I have it in the van like a extra break light, anyone know). Deleting those light units will make the van look wider and therefor lower, the new panel will be colour coded to the rest of the van. As for the Heckleblende that has another use now

Are you panelling the back in steel? Be cool to put in the Volkswagen script off a caddy pick up in place

Are you panelling the back in steel? Be cool to put in the Volkswagen script off a caddy pick up in place No, going to use the USA tub off the daily and extend that, should work well. Last I night I received a text from my mate Nick who painted the van to say there was a surprise for waiting down the barn when I get there in the moring Got there this morning and this was wheeled out in to the sunshine One happy bunny and one of the jobs I intended doing this morning was fitting the new speedo cable. Once this was done and the Volvo speedo was fitted to the dash the dash was fitted Next job will be to fit the screen and start connect more of the electrics up Afternoon was spent at the tattooist so all in all a good day

Shame that the heckblende isn't going to be on the van, but good that it's not going to waste. That dashboard looks brilliant, especially with the previously hidden bit of pressed chrome on the speedo, as always I'll look forward to further progress.

Thanks for comments, Front and rear screens went in today which hurt my fund but looks so good, did have a couple of set backs today in that I took the sunroof panel out to try and find how the the trim panel fit, put the trim panel in place to see how it worked and then jamed the sunroof when I tried to operate it and on freeing it broke part of the mechanism, looks like it maybe a replacement sunroof. The other setback has nothing to do with the car, looks like I'm going to need a replacement knee, consultant wont say I'm fit for the job I do and all our jobs are under review as they want to make cutbacks

Thursday afternoon I pick a replacement sunroof from the VW breaker about 30 mins away. After stopping for icecream and let little monster have a run around we went home and I had the slidy bit recovered by tea time. Saturday I went over to the barn and Nick was busy playing with this super strengh carbon bridging filler I fitted the new B4 moon roof up and adjusted it so it sat in the hole better, you would think as it came out of another car it would be a straight swap but no, still easy job <a href="http://s126.photobucket.com/user/mocco7/media/saturdaySunroof005.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p87/mocco7/saturdaySunroof005.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo saturdaySunroof005.jpg"/></a> Also stuck up some sound deadening, thorough interior cleaning and one or two small jobs among helping Nick wheel out is new Saturday project Today I dug out all the van front interior plus a rear seat for a trial fit (don't think it's going to happen) Door cards cant be fitted yet as there part of the door window frames that need painting black, center consol aldo needs painting but the bench is staying put. Having the interior fitted also gave me a chance to see how much I need to extend some of the wiring loom, was going to make the join using connectors but I'm thinking of dropping the fuse box and removing the looms and soldering and shrink wrapping them
