So this ... ... is pretty damn cool. Volvo V40 estate, dropped on Ferrari wheels (matching PCD, PCD fans) with very suitable rubber. Not sure what the engineering is behind it, would be interested if anyone can track some info down.. air? hard slam?? So I scurried off to Ebay because I had a thought, that was pretty cool, and found they are really quite cheap. Some Googling and Bing Imaging later we have this handful of lovelies : Scene bike pic yO! A bit blurry ahhhh that's clearer I haven't investigated Garaget yet, but I'm sure there are some serious examples on there... of course this would be the perfect modern for towing your zeitgeisty Porsche 924 surely

Most cars look good when slammed on smart wheels, even Volvo-badged Dutch Mitsubishi Charisma's otherwise known as the V40/S40. Unless they look undriveable, with senseless stretch and camber, for the engineers amongst us. The white one looks alright too, even though it isn't a '40.
What this thread does do for me though, is resurrect the three-spoke wheel. Such a bold design (no matter the detail) could only be a matter of fashion and there's nothing consistent about fashion. So after catching the rays in the '90s they've spent recent years well out of vogue. I reckon they'll get another turn soon though..

Just as I'm thinking my V40 is surplus to requirements this pops up:-) Inspired wheel selection with the Ferrari rims:-)
My Kangoo may be in the firing line now lol
Btw can't remember when I last saw a Charisma but I see S40s and V40s all the time:-)

Was there an estate version of the Carisma? Could be interesting.

Was there an estate version of the Carisma? Could be interesting. Is it as easy as sticking a Carisma front onto a V40?:-) Read once about a V40 getting an Evo transplant from a lancer but no idea if it ever got finished:-/

They're so below the radar, there's great potential. 4x114.3 PCD : it's crying out for some aftermarket JDM style. V40 and XXR wheels : simples.

just checking! Still opens up a wider selection of JDM wheels as the man further up says. I have a V40 on my drive and the wheels fit quite nicely on my flat front Saab 900 which is defiantly 4x114.3. The V40 is a good looking motor for a 90's blob.

No, HotWire is just confused. I thought all Volvos = Ferrari .. stupid Volvo badge engineering Japanese cars... The simple rule for 5 stud Volvos is that those with rear disc brakes are the same as Ferrari (5x108mm / 4 1/4"). Earlier 5 stud Volvos with rear drum brakes are 5 x 4 1/2" (US Ford). I think that they are all now 5 stud, but for quite a while it was just the larger models (Amazon, 1800, 1,2,7,9, and later 8 series (iirc, the VERY early 850s were 4 stud), followed by the V70, S80 & XC90.
