Nice looking build, good project car to start with too! Sure to have the purists crying with this one but imo your car your rules! Best of luck with the build buddy (0\ l /0)

awesome! do you or will you use a rear engine support bar with the wbx motor? i will be making one that fits with the merged exhaust, weight wise is not a problem but power wise yeah, also it judders a fair bit due to the power so it will help keep it solid.

Excellent build mate. If I was looking for a project this thread would inspire me to build a Beetle. What's a WBX engine? I'm guessing Subaru but it's a designation I've not come across before, please enlighten an ignorant Ford owner.

wasserboxer is how i like to put it the biggest and most modern vw flat four ever made. (that i know of)
it's out of a VW T25 transporter. it has stroker geometry, inbuilt oil filter and cooler, hydraulic lifters, efi...and the rest of bits that the aircooleds don't have. Also it has stock 112bhp that compared to the amount that beetles usually have and add the 750kg wight of the car ain't too bad.
i chose it because it was a good option, apart from sorting out the cooling it is all quite straight forward, the ecu and engine management only need two wires connecting. and if you were to build a aftermarket aircooled engine to that spec it would have come in a fair bit more than the £300 i paid for the complete engine or would it have the vw standard. also things like heating are nice.
