Come to Somerset, it's an easy way to start. The roads are narrow enough it won't make much difference anyway Meh - just find you're way to Area 52, we supply beer, you forget the need to drive, we all have fun and drink some more to celebrate the fact that none of us can now tell the difference between a car key and a spanner......so end up coming up with ever crazier ideas for project cars. Awesome! Let us know when you book the flight. Happy to pick you up from the airport. ;D

You can barely see it in my shoddy phone pic, but I wanged the old spoiler onto the bumper today, just so it doesn't look like there's something missing. I'm on the lookout for something more suitable.

I'll do the whole story later, but me and Mystery Machine drove to Wigan yesterday to swap the front end from an older 244. Needless to say, it didn't go smoothly and there are a couple bits missing (I have the grille but it isn't fitted in this pic). I'll get there, but there's alot of work to do, and I really need to get hold of one of the light surrounds.. Bruce should be along later with some decent pictures

Ooh, forgot to mention part of the reason that I changed the title of the thread.. It used to have two of the car's older nicknames there. Not anymore. The car is very much MINE now that there is a definite direction for it ;D It will no doubt develop a new name in time, but at the moment, I'm happy with it being 'Ben's Volvo'

Looking good Ben, much prefer that nose What're your thoughts on the rear end then? Have you decided on a colour yet?

An epic day it was - a true RR adventure.....and then some! Tales of woe, loads of frustration, sokaed through.....but it all came good in the end and what a memorable day/night it turned out to be. I would have had photos up by now - but photobucket is playing silly bu@@ers again, so no photos until it gets fixed by the p/bucket support guys! Sorry Looking good Ben, I'm just peed off that I can't load the photos up! Hopefully have some good news very soon. I can't wait to get the 'late night fill up' shot up here..... This car is going to look so damn cool when it all comes together. No one can tell from the photo, but the drivers side headlamp is held in with cable ties because the seller somehow thrw the bracket, mount and clips away thinking we wouldn't need them (as well as the hedlight surround!) What a complete dickheed We only found this out after a few soaking hours of swapping the panels over in the pouring rain in the dirtiest, muddiest, oiliest yard ever! At that point it was too late to swap everything back, so billy bodger and his cable tie solution was brought into action. I was actually quite pleased with my handywork even if the aim was a little off!

....and I think a lot of credit has to go to you for the advice about what to use to make this conversion work. Without your input then this wouldn't have happened so easily or quickly. Do you know if you'd be able to source a headlamp surround (drivers side for UK, passenger side for Sweden) and also the headlamp bracket that holds the headlamp 'bowl' to the front panel? (I'm sure Ben will be able to get a picture to make things clearer?) The seller didn't seem to think they were important enough to keep, so threw them away! Postage wouldn't be a lot from Sweden because the parts aren't big or heavy (unlike bonnet, wings and complete front panel) Thanks again for your help VolvoSpecial - it certainly made sourcing the parts in the UK less of a guesswork game!

It was a tiny private yard tucked down a little lane behind some houses in Warrington Rd.

The yard wasn't GE breakers was it? LOL I was there a couple of days ago, had loads of awesome cars in but never seen such a filthy yard. The new front looks mean as hell, great to see the car evolving with a new owner. Matt
