Hi! I've been waiting to have my own car again for a few years after my Fiat Tipo (RIP) blew up on the motorway in 2006. Been driving my parents Renault Scénic since then, whenever I've gone back to see them or needed to transport things. Just bought a Citroën AX RE from 87. It's the most basic model, 1L engine, no more than speedo and petrol indicator on the dash, no fog lights, 5-door. There are plastic bits filling all the places where other equipment should be. Really gives you the finger saying "this is where there should be an optional extra but you were too cheap!" There's an extra antenna and cable to fit a CB radio. A CD player fitted by the previous owner. A lovely brown/beige interior, and a single-spoke steering wheel. Quite a lively car. It'll do nearly 80mph. I got it to 70 on the way home from the seller's and it felt pretty solid. It's in great nick! just need to have the wheels aligned better and a new silencer fitted. Only tiny specks of rust on the door edges. I raided my parents garage for suitably retro care products: a rust-treating nail varnish thing, scratch polish and grey bumper renovator. I'll do some before and after photos when I set to work this weekend. Just got some dawn photos for the moment. I fancy fitting some AX GT alloys, front bumper with foglights, and wing extentions. All pretty cheap if I find the right seller. Going to keep the interior very 80s. Analogue clock etc. Need to finish the tedious task of getting rid of the rear window stickers.

At first I thought Jenson as being a bit of a div wanting to leave the team who finally gave him a big break after years of pretty mediocre performances but since I heard about the Brawn buy-out and team Germany, I love the idea of Germany V England.

Very nice. I'm hoping to buy one of these tomorrow if the seller accepts my offer. An 89 1L E 5-door, emerald green with a lovely brown interior.

There are some good deals to be had here in France but a lot of prices are ridiculous. Especially as I want a cheap run-about with MOT that'll be up and running "straight out the box". What amazes me most are the disparities in prices between old and new cars. There was a 2001 Mégane Scénic with all sorts of gadgets including parking sensors, alloys etc for 2000€ Yet some divs are trying to sell a knackered old 2CV for the same! It's 4 to 6000€ for a good one, and absolutely no limit for anything special. Got 15 grand?

Must be dangerous leaving anything painted matt black around you! Looks great! Very effective squiggles.

Those wheel wedges kind of take away some the beefiness of the beast! ;D It's Achilles heel maybe?

Those car drawings are superb! Really nice style. I'd love a massive poster like that with loads of cars on! Like the pokemon posters I guess. Wow that's a lot of rides to have owned at 31yrs old.

Fantastic! I had one of these, a silver 1989 1.6l DGT. Loved it. It did about 145,000miles. Went all over France with it (where I live). And used to take it from the west of France all the way up to Hull to see family every summer for 8-9yrs. Great features like a big boot and front doors that open at 90°, great for getting grandparents in Did have a few dodgy points like the digi-dash that would switch off or the motor (which towards the end always needed the choke out) would stall in cold weather. Some times it happened to me coming off the motorway, slowing down at 40mph, it would cut out! I did love it though. Till it died when I was over-taking on the motorway, and had to get to the hard shoulder without power steering, lights or much brakes.

Wouldn't have thought of doing red wheels on a bronze car but it works a treat! That green is my absolute favourite colour for a car. I LOVE the one with whitewall tyres! You take great photos. Ya lioubiou tibia Lada! (is that correct? )

You'll have someone's eye out with that. Felt the need to protect my eyes just looking at the picture. For me it's got to be an old defender or Range. Or a Niva, they must be well-built or quality control probably sent the bad workers to Siberia. Others.

Does that count as road? Definitely the limit anyway. I'd quite like to see a beer-sponsored hot rod.

It looks fantastic. Great job.
How easy is it to fit mk 1 grilles? Are there holes to be filled in on the boonet after removing the top edge of the newer grille?
