Can you park it in a place with easy hi-ab access and let me know a time when you will be out?
In all seriousness thats a class motor, I hope it won't end up on the track but for that money it stands a very good chance!

I'd be well up for this, except id bum the shell for a few bits and weigh it in, then stick the engine in my garage with the idea of sticking it in my 240 using a 960 gearbox, which quite frankly will never happen.
When do you want me to collect it?

It was more bingo without the fuel light. Seemed to be below the 1/4 tank marker and the light had not come up, when I was expecting it too. Frist time driving the car back so just trying to get used to its "charms" and thought that might be one of them. When the light came on about 10 miles from home, knew that I would be OK ;D Cheers - Dave - It had enough fuel in it to get you home?? pah! Knew I should have drained the tank! Glad you like it! The 240 is a fab daily driver, takes a bit of getting used to its tankyness but I'm loving it!

Hi Gang! Just taken the above motor in part exchange for my Audi from Hillmanimp. Its a straight old barge with a few dents, rusty door bottoms but runs and drives great! The headlining is missing so no worries with it being draped over your head! In short, its tatty but honest. 180k on the clock. MOT till June 2012 (MOT cert to follow) Taxed till end of October. I was going to run it till the tax expired then sell/weigh it in but the insurance is just too expensive, especially as I can get the Volvo 240 I have insured for £175 (thanks for the tip, Scotty!) Although its a bit tatty, there is no reason why it can't carry on for a good few years more with the right owner, I can't see any major disasters looming. It owes me £200, which I could get in scrap. Anyone vaguely interested? Its on Stoke on Trent and need it to go ASAP! PICS STOLEN FROM A FEW MONTHS AGO FROM A PREVIOUS OWNER (Macoli), BUT IT STILL LOOKS LIKE THIS. Tell em how great it is, Dollywobbler!

I suspect the logbook has been sent off as scrap at the request of the previous owner. Its possible for the car to find its way back onto the road, but the DVLA wouldn't be very happy with Taronis!
Spent a good few hours in this yard in the past, including 3 hours removing the front end from an Allegro using a hammer and bolster chisel when I should have been re-wiring a house around the corner for B-ham city council housing association. Happy days!

Model: Audi 100 AVANT CC 1.8 4cyl manual Year: 1986 Mileage: 175,000 Tax: 31/5/12 MOT: 28/3/12 Location: Stoke on Trent Price: £600 Additional Information: I bought this old barge about 4 years ago from Minidan, so it has some RR credentials! Its been my daily driver since then and its seen some changes, 1) LPG Converted, 250 miles to a tank of gas (£30) 2) Golf GTI head fitted with larger valves 3) Powerflow stainless exhaust, from the downpipe back 4) Wolfrace street octane wheels with new wheel bolts and spigot rings. 5) Carb from an Audi 80 sport with gas mixer on top under a chrome pancake air filter. 6) New carb mounting rubber- no more leaks!! Its also had numerous new parts fitted to keep it ship shape- Over the past 24 months or so its had new rear drums, wheel cylinders, brake shoes plus new front discs and pads, new heavy duty rear springs and shocks (no saggy bum syndrome!) Recored radiator, new clutch, clutch cable, CV gaiter e.t.c. Basically its been looked after and not run into the ground. Bodywise its had some welding around the fuel filler pipe (this is a very well hidden common rot spot) plus the rear jacking points have been replaced where a rubber bung has caused the metal to rust. The front wings have bubbling on the arch lips, but this hasn't got any worse since I've owned the car and new wings are supplied. The PSR door has a scrape at the bottom but a new door in the right colour is supplied too. There are also some small dents here and there but not much for a 25 year old car with 175k on the clock. It still looks smart and attracts lots of positive comments from passers by. The interior is blue fabric and in very good shape with no rips or tears to the seats, the boot area is also in good order. The 1.8 engine runs great on gas and the Audi is brilliant on the motorway- it seems to cruise at 80mph and its fun keeping up with the flow of new repmobiles! Bad points- Engine weeps oil from the rocker cover power steering pump weeps (never bothered me but good spare supplied) Odd thumbnail dent here and there scabby front wings- new ones supplied light scrape to bottom of OSR door- new one supllied Runs a bit wibblepoo on petrol, never bothered me as I hardly ever run on petrol! Just remembered, there is a slight blow from the downpipe somewhere. It went through the MOT O.K and I can't find it the leak! It could be a chuffing manifold gasket or something. Disappears when the engine warms up. I broke up an Audi 100 CS a couple of years ago and have stacks of spares to keep this CC on the road for a good few years yet. Reason for sale? I'm a bit bored of it now and have recently bought a Volvo 240 estate to play with. I'll really miss this Audi when it goes! The Audi and its replacement!

Send the DVLA a letter explaining that you have never owned this vehicle, include a daytime contact number for them to contact you should they need to, remember to send this letter RECORDED DELIVERY, as if you don't the DVLA will throw it straight in the bin.
Explain that you have received a number for fines e.t.c that you are not liable for and you need the situation to be sorted out ASAP.
Once the DVLA get their arses into gear the car will show up as having no registered keeper and should get pulled by an ANPR police car, and the car will be crushed with the driver still inside. Problem solved!

I've spoken to the guy flogging it and it comes with a broken autobox so i'll have to hunt down a 2wd manual box, flywheel and clutch to fit. These seem to be quite common on yankbay but actually getting hold of one could prove difficult.
Maybe I should just stick to a Rover V8 and accept defeat!

Thanks for the info guys... I guess a redline of 4000rpm and a volvo 240 2 litre axle may result in a pretty low motorway speed! It is cheap enough though...
How physically big are they? SBC size?

Hi all..
Does anyone know much about the above engine? I have searched about and it doesn't seem to be used for tuning or hot rodding at all. Is it known by a different name when fitted to a different car? What parts availability like? are manual gearboxes for these common?
I don't know what year the engine is, just that its complete and running. Best suited to a tractor?
Ta in advance from a V8 numpty!

I did a little reading up and Ford 302's do look very tempting as they are smaller than a rover V8 and so should fit more easily, seem to be more reliable and as you say more power too.. The problem is finding an engine and manual gearbox in the right price range (i.e cheap!) As a V8 N00b i'm reluctant to dabble with yank V8's as I know nothing about them. A used RV8 and Rover SD1 gearbox will be easier to get hold of and far more likely to about for the right money. Lankytim - I used to go on a forum where a couple of guys had Volvos with the 302 Ford in. Seems a good swap. There is a company in the US does a fitting kit to drop a SBC (305 or 350) into a 740/760. Rover V8 is a fine engine for being a cruiser and making the right V8 noise but I'd be tempted to put a Ford in it. Got to be the same effort to do it either way and the Ford will be seriously more poke.

Hi all, I'm after a Rover V8 engine in running order, complete as possible, also an SD1 LT77 gearbox to fit to it. No sherpa boxes though.
I'f I can buy a package thats pretty much ready to bolt straight in and fire up that would be ideal.
I'll consider anything, fuel injected, carbed but nothing thts totally knackered please!
Ta!

Great "minimal" motoring there for someone, I like it! Why hasn't it sold yet? I bet it would get through a few more MOTs before it finally died too.
I have bought a couple of cars from HBF and find he actually undersells them a bit, I bet this Accent will actually be a bit better than described!
