Some great cars there. I am really looking forward to coming to Oz in May now!! And I might just have to buy an old car to get around in!! Where's the best place to look? It's quite easy when there's one on every street. I'm reverting back to carrying a compact cam, iphone takes way too long to get ready and too many chances are lost. Still got my eyes peeled for a red 2 door MkIV/V Cortina. Bound to have a big lump and it was as tidy as the day it left the factory. www.tradingpost.com.au/Automotive/Browse& www.carsales.com.au/& of course www.ebay.com.au/ ... are where I dream .... almost daily. One day I shall return to the world of W123 heaven. Pricier here but plenty in concours condition compared to the three I had back home. Have a great time here, I'm sure you will. Funnily enough I'm heading home for 3 months in May.

Looking forward to this one.
There's plenty driving around here in Melbourne in various states. No mods as far as I'm aware though did see a stag once whose engine was definitely non original.
A few 1100/1300's as well.

This is by far the worst case of 'spending way too much time on something not really important when I should be doing something way more productive with my time', thread, that I have ever known. Sorry for this I'm not often rude but...... This is by far the worst case of a 'stupid pointless post', in a thread, that I have ever known. Apologies, not really in my mindset to click on smileys. I rely on the ability of readers to see a tongue in cheek remark.

One day, the MaxPower look will be back, mark my words.
It's like the climate, goes round in cycles. I mean, who'd of thought a KE70 would become cool?

I seem to remember a report, oh donkeys years ago, regarding the Japanese peoples distaste for cars with aggressive looks. That's why they love the mini and various 60's little Brit sports cars. It was all about a cute face.
You've just reminded me, I think it would have been with the introduction of the AE92 that I thought that that philosophy went out the window.
Now you only have to look at a lancer to see how the aggressive look is derigeur on Japanese cars.

hey man..awesum spots well done..I'm melbourne as well..any chance of u telling me where that white W123 merc is cos I'm gonna need a spares car...so far ive only spotted a green one over in Moreland but wrong color for me..i stuck some images in the Abandoned thread....sweet as dude...Rab She's sat in a yard on Smith St, sitting behind the R16. The fella in garage with the mental collection of old petrol/car signs a few doors down owns the land. The R16 owner isn't interested in selling it seems, not sure where W123 ownerships resides but he'll be the fella who'll know.

This is the first time I've noticed on these old girls how ugly I find the read door treatment around the arches and up the C pillar. Great cars though. Dad had a 2.0GLSi 5dr from new which I used.... and sometimes abused.

okay okay. Now that's just not fair. The sun or the motors? 36degrees yesterday and projected 39 today. Too blinkin much. Only hope I can bring a bit back to Blighty this summer. Regarding the motors...rest assured I feel blessed by the retro motor god

Here's the biggest one I've been for a drive in... I know, I know, I'm a name...image...dropper. Lovely fella, especially when you show a bit of knowledge about the cars in his hangers.
