I also bought a few (actually, quite a lot ) of VW Kombi's in Melbourne too [/quote] A mate bought one from a Kombi dealer in Surrey back in the early '90's that we went round Europe in. Possibly you?

They can't help themselves these Aussies. All this beautiful metal on show and it always comes back down to a Ford or Holden ute.

What a lineup. Beautiful. Must buy The Age on Sunday a bit more regularly as I see that's where the shows are listed (can you imagine the Observer/Times listing car shows?). Love your Mk1 hak074. I learnt to drive in one of those. One for the diary next year.

I believe @carpervert (twitter) has put a 2.7 from a Rover (Sterling) into an Allegro and given it the treatment.

a brilliant campaign Mine's a 1600E circa 1988. Unfortunately it ended up halfway up the back of a Transit two months into ownership. Someone bought it though.

Sitting in a tree in the orchard at the end of our street waiting for a TR7 to go by is the most predominant motor memory from my youth.
Dad having to guide the Granada 2.3 GL down the mountains into Andorra town on just the handbrake is pretty memorable as well.
Oh and Uncle Dave's greyhounds p1ssing in the back of Dad's 244 on the way down to Pompey dogs. Smelly batardos

Wheel fetishists. Just what I am after.
Most excellent work by the way. I doff my cap.
Can you possibly help? Are these at 1.40 BBS's and if so, where in the blazes do I get a set to fit a W123?
Preferably cleaned.

Not a wagon but a runner. Also not souped up, modded or anything else, just a stock RVR but anyone seen it in a better setting? We found we had more kit than could fit in the camper we rented to take on a filming shoot. So, not being able to get in touch with the production manager to clear renting another motor, we took the wife's RVR. What a tool. Great little motor. I think we raised a few smiles doing a circuit of the track as well.

Buy car Park it up Forget about tax Local council lifts it By the time you realise, the release fee has skyrocketed It goes to auction or the big scrap heap in the sky

Ever bought a motor, parked it up and forgot the due date for the tax. It happened to me with an Accord Aerodeck. There was something about the Aero for me so I was glad to pick up this mega tidy example for £200. After fixing the brakes all I had to do was sort the high revving idle. Unfortunately I got busy elsewhere. It still irks me (though surprisingly I'm not agitated as much down under as there doesn't seem to be as many reminders as back home). Anyone else love the shape?/Seen a mod version. Wonder if this old girl was scrapped or Lambeth council had the nous to out it into an auction?
