In the winter my engine oil reaches a whopping 46°C by the time I get to work.
Don't gun it all the time. The quickest way to get the engine up to temperature is to drive it. Just do it carefully.

What brand of red oxide? I brushed some Screwfix branded stuff on my van sills and NOTHING will cover it. No matter what is used, it turns to dust and flakes off like dandruff.

Rust. Rust hidden under paint. Rust hidden under filler. Lots of underseal on the chassis hiding rust.
Are you after a specific type or model? It gets more intricate then. 1200, 13/60, 12/50 etc. Then saloon, convertible, coupe or estate?

I guess I'm lucky as I've been going to the same place for 10+ years and it's never cost me more then £35. They've had two locations during this time and at least four different testers on my cars there and they've all behaved the same. I think the current guy is in his 20's. Plus, mo matter what gets tested there's normally a 20 minute chat during and after. They're not specialist at all.
At least I know afterwards that my car will stop in a straight in an emergency. I'm happy to pay for that knowledge.

If you're doing it that often on your own and having issues - get a big syringe.
Sort out which hoses have a good fit on your nipple, pull for vacuum and then crack the nipple.
Nice and controllable. Just make sure it's a big syringe, see-through and not a tiny one.

I ran solid mounts in the Herald for a few years. Didn't cause any issues.

Honestly, I just use the talking meerkat for the van. At the very least it'll give you names to call. Two things though;
Read the small print - I just issued mine with Post Office as although not the cheapest, their policy wording was the first to match my needs
Insurance rules change on the 1st January, forcing insurance companies to offer the same deals to new and existing customers. This will impact prices.

Personally, I've never found anything which works on windscreens and I've tried pretty much everything I'm aware of or is recommend.

Not uncommon for s brush to seize in the starter to cause what you describe. Probably about £12 to fix and very little time needed to check.

Also, when was the last time you checked the MPG?
Cold starts and short journeys with lights and heaters on will cause it to plummet. I can get 16mpg commuting in winter but 30mpg in summer.

BBC News - Sir Frank Williams: Formula 1 team founder dies aged 79 www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/59453378Growing up, I can't say I liked him. But hearing others talk about recently has made me view him in a different way. Take a look from 5 minutes on in this video with Jason Plato and Jonny as an example. Motorsport in the UK would have been very different without him.

My Peugeot Expert with a 1.9 DW8 is exactly the same. It'll sit at 70 all day and only reaches 90 when hitting traffic on a hit day after thrashing it.
I've never solved it either.

Durafix are the ones normally suggested. I've tried them and the cheap ones, the difference is night and day.
SIF also do some, but I've not tried those.

Not all rods are created equal.
The cheap ones melt at a very high temperature which makes them practically useless on aluminium.

Why the need to change? When properly set up and adjusted mine could put you through the windscreen.

Hi, Ahh yes, now you mention mounting requirements I can remember someone elsewhere on another forum asking about which way up to mount it in regards to the air valve being at the top or the bottom. After doing some research for my own interest I can can say 'it depends'. Apparently when you depress the brake pedal the pressure in the hydraulic side of the servo pushes a plunger which operates the air valve to allow atmospheric air pressure to assist braking effort. However The 'O' ring on the plunger can let some brake fluid through into the vacuum chamber, so a mod by the manufacturers was to fit two 'O' rings. However if the first one let fluid past the pressure between them can restrict movement of the plunger and hold the brakes on. Now all that was a while ago so is from memory. Broadly speaking it's advisable and common practice to have the air valve uppermost. But do your own research to make sure. Colin Edit: I seem to remember it was explained on a Lotus forum, sorry I can't be any more help than that. This is interesting. At times I used to feel the brakes hold on briefly after using them. It doesn't do it now and it possibly stopped after stripping mine down. Thanks for the info.

If it's the cheap replacement (power boost or something?) They come apart easy. I had to strip mine down and clean it when it filled up with oil... Yes, probably the same one….. does yours operate progressively Pete or is there a step in the action? Nick I'd like to provide a useful answer, I really would, but... you know my driving style! 🤣 I find that I can feel the brakes come on and slowly improve as they warm but with no input of foot movement. I felt it with the 1144 and more so with 1155. My co-driver this year also noticed. I drive the Acclaim and a '05 Peugeot Expert regularly as well, both obviously have a servo. I can't feel any noticeable difference between any. Certainly not a sudden effort from the system as you describe. Have you tried without the vacuum connected? It could be an iffy non-return valve. My next step would be a temporary brake line bypassing the servo. I'm sure you'll have the odds and sods to knock something up easily. Even if only for your own amusement. Also. My instructions look the same as yours just mine are less polished. Mine was bought off eBay (£90 or such?) And came in a blue box. It was advertised as fitting Triumphs, MG's, Space Shuttles, etc. Same ratio as yours too.
