Sorry Sweetpea - you were so close to being nominated To be honest being so high in your estimations is quite a compliment. And I can't think of a better thread to be pipped to the post by than @johnnybravo and the Mazda. Anyway ToolsnTrack got in there and nominated my thread anyway. (Thank you.) I find this quite difficult to be honest. Picking out something or someone truly special when there is so much talent here. But here goes a few thoughts. New Thread Of The Year retrorides.proboards.com/thread/175664/twelve-cars-year by pistonpopper . I was late to this party but was immediately fascinated and spent a good few hours reading. I always look forwards to more posts. Readers Other Modifications Odd one this as it's in no way a modification. But it's in that part of the forum so I'm nominating it! georgeb 's retrorides.proboards.com/thread/163103/letter-manila-holidays . Nominated because it makes me think about other cultures and (hopefully) makes me more tolerant of them. Just at the moment I think tolerance of other cultures is probably an important thing. Damn good read too! Most Anticipated 2016 bstardchild 's retrorides.proboards.com/thread/175193/1972-1985-mongrel-comza-monzadore because it's one of the nuttiest projects around. But it's also brilliant, well thought through, and it's going to look the mutts nuts. Thank God I don't live closer 'cos I'd be in BC's garage more than mine. If I come up with any more I'll get back to you. James

Wow, a nomination and a mention in dispatches, thanks guys. And all for a thread that I keep thinking will get pulled one day. So thanks also to the mods for not doing so (yet!). On the subject of nominations, I reckon 95% of those already mentioned are in my bookmarks so there's no point repeating them. I'll just need to decide who to vote for when the time comes. However, there's one I've been keeping an eye out for and, if the last one is anything to go by, this could be fun... MonzaPhil and his 1984 Senator Caravan project. The impending road trip is breathlessly awaited. What could go wrong? I'm also looking forward to watching Dez and his '47 Ford in 2016.

Many thanks everyone for the nominations. Pretty blown away to be honest! Car Of The Year: Are we allowed to choose cars outside of RR? If so, it's got to be Mike Boroughs 'Rusty'. A car that has divided opinions since pretty much day one....and then comes back from nowhere and blows everything out of the water. The definition of Retro Rides to me; reinventing itself many times and getting people to question everything. New Thread Of The Year - Community Person Of The Year: camerashy - the guy opens up his home and takes in a someone he's never met before from the other side of the world, then shows him all the retro stuff you could handle. Amazing guy. Best Media: Petrolicious - amazing & enjoyable videos, great content, I always look forward to seeing their latest film making exploits. Wonderful stuff! Event Of The Year: Players Classic - Great location, amazing mix of cars, just a fantastic event. Readers Other Modifications - Most Anticipated 2016: Camerashy's Datsun 240Z - I've followed the progress of this car since the beginning, I've always enjoyed the thread, the updates. I've now seen it in the flesh, met the owner and also think (hope) it'll be on the road in 2016. I cannot wait. I'll update the other two once I've had more of a think about them.

Car Of The Year - MarkBognor's K11. I know he's shot me down before for saying it but I genuinely feel that it is the best K11 on the planet; constant considered evolution, and to have something so great as one of 'our cars' is a wonderful thing. New Thread Of The Year - MysteryMachine's Odyssey. I feel like I've seen hooky screencaps taken sneakily with a camera phone in a seaside playhouse on Facebook but the thread itself... It's the full IMAX experience Community Person Of The Year - the extended 'Bristol lot'; I have never known such a genuinely great group of people, who care and help each other so much, and I'm honoured to count them as friends. Best Media - Petrolicious. Event Of The Year - NHOA 2015 retrorides.proboards.com/thread/179252/nakayoshi-hot-olds-2015-picsReaders Other Modifications - GeorgeB's Letter from Manila. Most Anticipated 2016 - CR500Dom's Kadett *n

A car that has divided opinions since pretty much day one....and then comes back from nowhere and blows everything out of the water. The definition of Retro Rides to me; reinventing itself many times and getting people to question everything. Now I'd sen pictures of that car in various stages but never come accross the build thread - marmite for sure but still very impressive

Car Of The Year - The simple and perfectly executed 924 owned by itx gorgeous photography and a very simple build done with not a ludicrous amount of money making for an elegant and gorgeous car. New Thread Of The Year - If only you were nearer ...I know it's already nominated..but.. Bruce kept that he was going to do a write up *very* close to his chest given he wanted to get some paid shoots out of his trip (a self financing trip magician!). I can't express the bromance that blossomed in words very well, there were several times where I thought 'he's a dreamer, he's not actually going to buy the car' but no, he pulled it off, he was a brilliant guest, heck he even made me miss British humour in the process. I have to nominate the thread, it's made me (and many of my Canadian friends) a friend for life and one heck of a fun story certainly made this Autumn more exciting. All of this before recognising the photos and the story telling of the actual thread. Community Person Of The Year - Best Media - Event Of The Year - Readers Other Modifications - sa1clover and his FergusonMost Anticipated 2016 - bjornagn and his chassis conversion on his P1800

Having "Meh"d the whole Awards idea in the "Why haven't you voted?" thread, I'll go back on myself and pay some attention to a left-field choice. It's from the same part of the world as me, which got me to click it the first place, but as I don't know the guy, does that make it clique-y?. It's not a new thread, it's not a single car, so it doesn't fit any existing category, but that's every reason to give it an honourable mention. It's surprisingskoda's retrorides.proboards.com/thread/170153/continuous-thread-skodas-bmws-austins Seemingly at least one new vehicle per post, and enough progress to question how the guy has time for a full-time job.

So it's taken having a week off work to get around to getting some nominations done! I'm purposefully trying to go for a few different ones, as some of the things I would have definately nominated are here already, and well there is so much stuff on here that it's easy for good stuff to pass like a ship in the night. Car Of The Year - for probably obvious reasons I'm all about classic racers (or just the style) at the moment. For me @damirzg 's Abarth 850 replica is a beautiful build of a very cool car - I would love to have it for day to play on the Warwickshire B roads. And somewhat at the other end of the size spectrum is tim 's Humber Super Snipe race car - almost certainly a crazy race car, and all the better for it - his thread needs more photos! Tread linkNew Thread Of The Year - a bit too tough to choose after the obvious winners! So I'll just vote here as most of my bookmarks are from previous years. Community Person Of The Year - bstardchild for not only running the RRG hillclimb, lots of forum activity but also for taking on the crazy build of making 2 cars into one! Best Media - Actually really enjoyed a good few articles in Retro Car mag this year, seem to have upped their game a bit Event Of The Year - The Butty Run at Long Itchington, just a great local meet every month, and has survived a bit of a shutdown scare as well recently Readers Other Modifications - Frankenhealey it's a Turbine project, just looking forward to what it'll become is enough to warrant a nomination for me Most Anticipated 2016 - crazy, but looking great already bjornagn 's Volvo P1800ES

Late to the party but the time I get on a computer (aside from actual work) is seriously limited at the moment. Car Of The Year: This makes me happy....http://retrorides.proboards.com/thread/181431/low-slow-93-subaru-brat New Thread Of The Year: Who doesn't enjoy an ERT? retrorides.proboards.com/thread/183864/grizz-martins-epic-chevy-roadtripCommunity Person Of The Year: bstrdchild for his tireless efforts on "The Hill" and for the constant flow of pictorial entertainment EmDee Best Media: Absolutely enjoying Roadkill at the moment. Event Of The Year: Not been anywhere except RRG (which is the best show of the year anyway) Readers Other Modifications: retrorides.proboards.com/thread/163103/letter-manila-38-range-rover never ceases to amaze me. I think fitting an inappropriate jet engine in an equally inappropriate small car also deserves a mention... Most Anticipated 2016: Hmmmmmm. Dez, hurry up and build something that will be finished next year please.

This is hard because of not only the quantity of cool stuff on here, but also the diversity. I want to nominate loads of stuff but obviously can't, fortunately a lot of the stuff I wanted to already has, so I can add to that Car Of The Year - Chez' V8 Capri! I first saw it in the paddock at RRG, so evil. New Thread Of The Year - tba Community Person Of The Year - tba Best Media - Roadkill!Event Of The Year - RRG was my event of the year but Retro Show was great, car was even shoddier back then so I'm really looking forward to it next year. Readers Other Modifications - tba Most Anticipated 2016 - retrorides.proboards.com/thread/109581. And the Passat/K70 bodyswap
