I plan to buy them eventually, just impatient.
It's an E38 BMW 7, quite a heavy beast so I'm not holding out much hope for ride quality on cut springs

Just found out my insurer will only add £19 to my premium for a lowered car So I plan to get lowered springs but I'm skint at the moment so I'm going to cut what's there. I want to go down about 45mm so if I measure down the spring whilst loaded as normal 45 mm, draw a line, jack up, cut on line that should drop it 45mm right?

How much for the clear indicators and rear light clusters, if they are the clear indicator ones off the E38?

If they are standard fitment lockers just go to the dealer. My BMW came with no key for the wheel nuts, went to the dealer and they had every one and tried them all until one fitted. New key was £10

2002 1.9TDI PD engine, AWX I think - sticker in the boot is missing.
Car is hard to start when cold, runs and drives perfectly when its going. No faults stored. I've checked the glow plugs and they get red hot within a few seconds. Tried starting it with coolant temp sender unplugged so glow plugs have longest time on and it made no difference.
I'm guessing a fuelling problem? I have pulled the pipes off the filter and on cranking there is flow through it, I don't have a pressure gauge to check the pressure.
Can anyone help? 2 kids and a wife on maternity means I could really do without paying out for diagnostics....
thanks Adam

Strange to think they were built by a Company better known for the cobra (And other assorted sports cars) AC also built the train that goes up and down Southend pier. Basically they were quite often skint and would take any work they could get

Anyone who makes blanket statements like all steering boxes need replacing with r+p don't know what they're talking about. In well maintained steering system whether it uses a box or r+p won't make any difference. BMW used steering boxes in the E38 7 series which only ended production in about 2002

I got a 96 740 BMW with LPG for half your budget. Needed some work but it's a lot of car for the money

I'd say by the time that has been welded it'll have moved around so much that it'l be as matched to the head as any other. My advice is get another and look into having the cam bed aligned bored again

The alternator pulley has gone on my Wife's Audi A6. I've got a new pulley but I need the special tool to remove it and I can't find one anywhere that I can get today.
If anyone has one that I can borrow it would save me a world of pain from the Mrs. I'm in Watford and home is Sandhurst, Berks
Thanks
Adam

Don't discount LPG. I've just got a BMW 740 does low 20's but then fuel is 65.9-72.9p a litre

I've broken a stud extractor and drilled it out before. Start small, go slow and use lots of cutting oil. Have lots of spare bits handy

If you have a TIG then brazing with that and phosphor bronze rods is reasonable simple and very strong. Still need to preheat nice and hot

I need to replace some vacuum hoses on the LPG system on my 740. They are 6mm rubber hoses with M8x1 female fittings. Can anyone recommend a supplier?
Cheers Adam
