I've had a water leak for some time and it's been getting more and more annoying. I also bought a nice black exclusive leather interior and matching door panels last weekend So started the job today. I removed the seats and carpets including the side trims and carpet in the boot. Some pictures below: Rear seat bases removed All seats out All carpets out Water sitting in the wells below the rear seat bases The boot sound deadening was absolutely sopping so I'm pretty sure the leak is into the boot area and it's then running down into the rear seat base area and the footwell. I fitted one of the new door panels to the near side rear. Before: After: The carpets are currently hung up inside to dry out. Next job is to locate and fix the leak. More soon

Well, first job of the day was to fix my pillar drill. Progress had previously been very slow as when I applied any pressure the drill stopped turning Turned out the problem was this: The nut was loose despite being a left hand thread. Tightened it up and all was well again Did plenty of this: Welded captive nuts on various pieces: Welded together: Quite pleased with the Portamig welds compared to an example of the SIP welds below: So this is where we are up to now: I don't know what's wrong with me but I left my work bench area looking like this More soon

Have a free bump.
Sounds like the VV needs a new diaphram. I'm sure there was another common but simple fix with them too but it escapes me at the moment!

Well, the camera appears to be fixed (thankfully) did funny things when it first turned on as if it re-set itself or something. No work today but they'll be pictures next time

Nice buy. The Mk1 Golf is indeed an all time classic. One of the best colours too. Agreed, nice shed

It's a bit of a faff but you can change the balljoints without the correct tool.

I might be wrong here but do you not have to have been the registered keeper for at least one month before you can refund the tax disc?

Nice buy. The 240 GLT estate is the only Volvo I would ever really consider owning. Generally I'm not a Volvo fan despite working for a Volvo dealer for a year in my gap year.

I've started again. Got on with finishing the car roller this afternoon. Went to take pictures and the camera kept turning itself back off so no pictures. Car work: Got one leg fitted to the second support for the car roller. The Portamig welded beautifully and the Sperian Optrel e680 performed well too. Camera diagnosis: I thought the batteries might be flat (although I'm sure I haven't used it since I last charged them) When I took them out to charge them back at home I discovered three were 2500mAh and one was 1700mAh. I'm hoping this is why the camera kept switching itself back off. I've put a set of four of the 2500mAh ones on charge now, hope this fixes things as I don't want to be buying a new camera.

The problem with batteries is you have to charge them. That requires electrical energy that has to be generated. Then we're back to coal, oil, gas nuclear etc!

On the subject of earth clamps, the ones that come with the machine are usually pretty poor quality. I'd upgrade with one bought from somewhere like BOC much more beefy

I'm sure I read somewhere that a British company had managed to produce hydrogen that engines could run on and the production cost was 1-2p a litre. Not sure how accurate the article was. Perhaps it was an April fools joke?

Great work! Perhaps an engineering company could manufacture an expansion tank using the original as a pattern?
You're certainly getting great results from the Deox C. They do a great gel too that you can brush on and leave on larger areas.

What you've adjusted there is the anti-stall. It does exactly what it says, stops the engine stalling when you lift off the throttle. One thing I can't understand is that in your earlier photos of the pump there isn't a gap between the anti-stall and the throttle lever, in your last photo there is.
Also interestingly (to me at least) your waxstat only raises the idle it doesn't advance the pump timing. There is no switch or solenoid on your pump like there is on my Xantia.
